Take a look at Baron Von Grumble's vlogs on YouTube. He's just done one on the mic set up with the Drift HD which has made everything sound much better with my Drift.
I've just uploaded my first vlog about being a new rider on a Versys, due to finally getting it so that wind-noise doesn't drown everything out when I get above 60mph.

Enjoy the Drift and ride safe - it takes a bit of concentration to talk while riding!

1. Don't fake your personality, people will see it through
2. Pace yourself and chose topics properly (you don't want to burn out too fast)
3. Everyone in comments section is an expert in everything conceivably build/made/thought of.
4. Editing takes ages. You'll need to learn how to do it.

But most of all: Enjoy it. It takes time, but the feeling of satisfaction coming from uploading a well made vid and recieving a positive feedback is worth it. Thumbs Up

P.S Chuck me a link will ya?

To paraphrase another member of this forum:

Is there a more depressing phrase than "MotoVlogger"?

Best of luck with it all.

I have watched a few vloggers and some were just drivel, some were pretty decent though but they grew old quite quick.

Share a link when you're up and running, be nice to watch how it progresses.

Good luck with the Vlogging - I don't personally do it but I have subscribed to a lot of them including Baron Von Grumble... Some of them are a right laugh!

My videos are a lil different, just rides on different bikes and riding my cbf in different conditions / situations. Link is in my signature if you're interested.

A few of them are funny about it though, there are two guys I watch on YouTube fairly often that complain, but their actual attitude is hilarious. They're Baron Von Grumble and Bluenapalm. Good vloggers there!

Wow, you are new here.

Don't go chasing drama: you will be outed as a cockend. Accept that most of what you record is going to be dull and only post good stuff when you have it.

You crash video will get all the views, especially if you're talking about roast beef or something when you hit the artic.

Maybe put the camera's mic somewhere away from your mouth, record your views and ideas on a separate dictaphone or something, and sync them up / re-record a better quality voiceover to suit whilst doing the editing?

As for what to talk about ... whatever catches your fancy. It's a big wide internet and regardless of what you do, it's almost certain there'll be a few people who love it, some who hate it, and a huge majority who don't give a crap. But if you have to go casting about for ideas, don't bother making the video. Additional info or inspiration surrounding a core subject, maybe, but if you really have no idea, say nothing and just caption or voiceover any interesting bits later.

(I've done a couple of car based recordings of various drives, but most of the time they were either camera tests, ersatz telemetry for checking power bands, or intended to be played back at several times normal speed, so talking was irrelevant. So long as you either remember the pertinent events or have a separate record of them there's nothing to stop you plugging a mic into the PC later on)

That would take ages to make a video and it would be incredibly noticeable and anoying for the viewer.

I agree you should just do what you want. Im planning on doing vlogging when my camera arrives, but it will be more of a blog. Not moaning about petrol prices or pot holes everywhere. If people dont like it then fine, im not doing it for them.

You've got to be interesting and/or funny, if you're neither and got a horrible voice then you're fucked.

Baron von Grumble sounds like Robert Webb Wub

In what way?

Please don't be one of those vloggers that spends every video moaning about bad driving and how someone cut you up. It happens to us all, you don't need to show us.

Also, don't do it unless you can actually do it and you have something interesting to talk about. There is nothing worse than a vlogger that takes 3 minutes to get through a single sentence, says "umm" and pauses every other word.

How so? If you might end up editing it anyway, it's just another small part of the workflow. Editing videos properly is a longwinded pain in the ass, and having to try and chop them up so you don't fade halfway through a prerecorded word - or having to subtitle them because your speech is unintelligble thanks to outside noise - is even worse.

(Trust me, I've done such things for work)

Having a source video devoid of dialogue that you can cut up -first- according to a vague script (from a transcription of what you said into a better quality dedicated mic instead of something that came with the camera) and THEN overdub at leisure, possibly even in one go... much easier. And closer to how it's done on telly etc.

Presactly.
Just don't whine too much when they inevitably start flaming, or you get no views Wink
