Hi
I am looking to get into biking and do my full bike test hopefully next year. I am thinking about running a 125cc for a bit to get used to biking and get some road experience etc.

Does anyone have any good suggestions on a good 125cc bike? I am looking for a supermoto ideally

Avoid anything Chinese, take someone who knows about bikes with you when you go to look at them and don't be blinded by the desire to own a bike that you buy the first thing that comes along.

Second hand Japanese over brand new chinese. The former will certainly be better quality, and safer to use.

Ahaaaaaa at last a new recruit to the SuperMoto cult Smile, check out the Yamaha WR125X, I bought new £500 down and £120 pm, plus got the dealer to pay for my CBT and knocked a total of 50% off my gear costs. In fact I would say if you go to a dealer for new or second hand you could ask if they could pay for your CBT.

The WR125X is really good if you want to properly use your bike as its full size so good if you have long legs. Also has nearer the full 15BHP compared with your CGs YBRs etc.

You will get slagged if you choose to buy new but its swings and roundabouts as far as im concerned, new is more convenient.

The only issue is it looks like the WR 125 x is more than my budget would allow

I learnt on a Yamaha YBR125...Cracking little bike.

You could have had mine off me (little minter)...but sold it last night.

I'd imagine any 125 will do the job, its just a vehicle to learn on,pass your test and flog it for a bigger one.

Hi Kevin.

The Pulse gets good reviews, but they're first impressions.

There's a guy on eBay gushing about his, because it "only" needed a new rear light, new loom and new tank... then broke down (cause unknown) the day it was due its first scheduled service. Shocked

It's got the looks, it even appears to have the go, but staying power? Don't bet on it. It might make a good used buy, if you can find a good one, but if so that'll make it a poor new buy.

How old are you, by the way? Do you know that licensing is changing next January, and not for the better?

I have a Suzuki DR 125 which might be the type to suit, you might get a bit of change if you're lucky. But account for clothing and security in your budget as well.
