just got sent an email from the dsa about changing to a single road test and that they are looking and PAYING for people to test the new test

https://content.govdelivery.com/attachments/UKDSA/2012/09/19/file_attachments/162516/dsa-trl-motorcycle-test-review-letter.pdf

i would do it if it involved the test been free and then if you pass you actually get a license that would be cool instead of just looking for people haha

Ah, Mike Penning's last gasp. He apparently ring fenced the funding for this before being punted to Northern Ireland.

I love how it fucks off some of the extra tosh that the DSA felt compelled to add in to justify mod 1 (figure 8, slow ride). But why they can't just sod off the "slalom" as well puzzled me, that'll be the excuse that's used to kill it on elf n safety grounds, putting all those cones down. Ooh-me-back.

doing that figure of 8 on a cruiser is a bloody nightmare, especially on lightweight less stables ones!
That is one part of testing that needs to burn and die

Well, then it looks like good news for cruiserfags then (Google LF250-B Wink ) because it's not in the prospective new test.

Hah, I've just noticed that the brake and swerve tests are at "28-30mph". That's 45-48kph, well under the 50kph that the Brusselscrats demanded.

Fuck you, Northern Ireland, give Penning back. Mad

IF an all in one test can be reached it might save some riding school, just think of the people that are 21/23 paying £100 a time for CBT. Or going for the new Mod1 and Mod2 virtually DAS training (as you can't do it on your own bike without jumping though hoops) at £600 a pop. With the upgrade two years later another £600.

So that is a cost of £800 (2 CBT's +1 all inclusive test) or a cost of £1300 (1 CBT + 2 all inclusive tests).. To get unrestricted.

**£600 is local price for experience riders, £800 for novices local area

As those manoeuvres will be done on a public road, if it's a 30mph road (which I would assume they will be) then technically yes you could as you would be speeding :o

And that strongly implies that it'll be eyeballed by the examiner rather than expecting candidates to hit a precise speed.

Seems like common bleedin' sense to me, I'd be very surprised to hear that anyone else in Europe is anal enough to actually measure the speed on the required test elements.

I'd give it a go, it's a bit of extra practice for me!

Most things are just common sense though. People just occasionally need a bit of a prompt to remind them after they get into bad habits and all that sorta thing.

Couldn't hurt to give it a go, could it?
