Long story short, my current commute is 500 miles a week living at my parents (moved back after a relationship breakup).
Ive got a new job but no start date, it could be as late as christmas so im weighing up my options whether to rent a room close to work or continue commuting.
Im currently using my dads x type diesel, 50mpg and £115 a month to insure fully comp. If i was to move i would get a little run around as i would only be doing about 200 miles per week and id like to cut down my insurance bill.
My new job when i get it will give me a company van for 6 months, and then a car so its only temporary
ANYWAY;
How do insurance companies actually make their prices up?
I can insure a 2003 Toyota Corolla T Sport 1.8 (190BHP) fully comp for £870 and £1305 TPFT..
Same details my price for a 2000 Skoda Fabia Confort 1.4 (68BHP) is £1220 FC and £765 TPFT.
Finally a 1998 Astra Club 8V 1.6 (2.5bhp) is £1230 FC and £1196 TPFT.
Im 24, licence for over 4 years, bike licence for 7. Unfortunatly i have 0 NCB because i have never kept inurance long enough. No crashes, No points and kept in a garage.
The insurance on the skoda fully comp was actually CHEAPER if it WASNT garaged but more expensive TPFT.
I could just get a Yamaha Fazer insured fully comp for £130 a year but thats not much good for my 2 year old daughter.
