I'm wanting to join a gym in Leeds, preferably near Burley/Kirkstall area or not too far away.

I recently joined Exercise4Less on Kirkstall Road at a bargain price of £9.99pm. I went there this evening at 5.45 and fuck me it was RAMMED. I got pissed off and shortly left and decided to try again later in the evening when I thought it'd be quieter.

So, I went back at 8.30pm and it was still stupidly busy. I'm wanting to do weights only, but I couldn't get on anything even after hovering around for some time. Again I got fucked off and left.

So, does anyone know any gyms which aren't too ridiculously busy in the evening? I'm not bothered about posh gyms in the slightest. Just want one which has a squat rack etc.

It might be out of your way a bit, but Altered Image in Pudsey has all the proper gear... power cages and so on.

The missus has started going to LA gym in Yeadon. It's handy from her work. Don't know if that's close enough to Kirkstall though.

Also not sure what the membership rates are like and if you'd be locked in for a year or so. She's currently using a guest pass, from another work colleague who uses it, that's valid for about 6 weeks which is good.

I've used 2 in leeds. There's Fitness First just off Kirkstall road, if it's still there, I know a lot of them have gone under recently.

And then The Edge at Leeds Uni - slightly more expensive than FF IIRC but the equipment is so much better and they have a pool, squash courts, climbing wall if any of that tickles your fancy too!

I've been to what is now a Virgin gym in the city centre.
Just for Krav Maga lessons, but otherwise looked ok, though expensive.

However, if I was closer to the area I'd certainly consider it for said Krav Maga lessons which would be included in the pice as it'd then be not bad value then.
