Ello BCF
With alot of "new riders" (including myself) hoping to pass the motorbike licence test in the next few months. It's highly likely that alot of bike recommendation threads will pop up.
So I thought it would be interesting to see, What everyone rides and how they ride
I'm sure a majority of you have visited the Motorcycle ergonomics website, but for those who haven't
https://cycle-ergo.com/
It's handy to see how you'll sit on the bike, if you'll find it comfortable is another question
(If you want to show your picture, you'll either have to upload it via BCF, using add attachment. Or using a photo hosting site like photobucket. Image linking wont work )
So I currently ride a YBR 125
(Height 5'10
inseam 31")

Hoping to be riding like this by January
(Does this look right/comfy?)

Height: 6ft2. Slim figure. Long arms & legs.
My riding position:
Very upright. Generally either a straight back or at 10-30 degrees (if 0 is straight). Can lean on the tank if I so wish.
Straightish bars helps with the upright position.
Gives me a comfortable ride with a good view of traffic. I have no weight on my shoulders/wrists and don't have to grip the tank very hard with my knees, if at all. It's a very effortless ride.
I like it. ____________________ 2004 R1 & 2018 XSR900 |

Riding position depends on the kind of riding I'm doing.
In town I'll be sitting up so I can see further ahead, put me on a trackday and I'll be doing all that chin on the tank stuff. Quite often I'm riding along with one hand on my hip looking like a teapot. I should probably stop doing that. |

Height: 6'6'' Figure: Tall and (just slightly) overweight. Long all around (that's right ladies ).
My riding position's pretty much typical for an adventure bike (calling a V full on adventure is pushing it)
so around 0 degree of lean (no back pains), with the high bars that fit me perfectly and make riding piss easy.
Got to admit that V is the most comfortable bike I've ever sat on.
P.S I do fancy going back into sportier bikes though (gotta get that knee down).
So if anyone knows any sport tourers/bikes on the sportier side that have good legroom let me know.
I'm still out on a hunt so any ideas are appreciated. ____________________ 09' Versys 650 | 07' FJR1300A

Here's me without a helmet and not looking where I'm going. I started off sitting further back, but found it easier like this as the back brake was tricky to depress properly.
To help get up speed I find it useful to get my head down a bit to reduce wind resistance (it all matters on a 125!) - Mine's a 2009 as I'm not rich enough for last year's!

determining the angles of your joints is all interesting stuff, but it doesn't really hint as to if you'd be comfortable at those angles. we're all different after all.
is there some "ideal" to look for? ____________________ CBT - 17/09/12 * Theory - 23/10/12 * Mod1 - 05/03/13 * Mod2 - 25/03/13 * BOSH!
