whats with the two seperate compartments in this fuel tank?

https://cdn.bikechatforums.com/files/gasgas_tank.jpg

the top black bit is the bit you screw the plastics to and the screws poke through inside it so it wont be fuel / watertight.

But fuel is bound to end up in there from sloshing or just pouring it in with a can will result in most of it going into the top bit??

Any ideas?

Internal baffle? Not sure from one photo, but I guess a trials bike spends enough time being vertical, so this would reduce the sloshing about and starving the carb? Hell, I don't know.

Havnt got a clue but I still think the outer shell is water tight. Are you sure the screws poke threw into it??

yes the screws do go through, seems to be a single skin thing, but the screws are designed to go there, thats what is baffling me.
I think the only way to know for sure is to bang some fuel in there and see what happens. worst case is i set on fire and die Laughing

Don't get that. Where does the actual filler cap go? Directly in the hole? and what covers the other space?

Give us a picture of the top bit.

you can see the cap at the very top of the pic, says gas gas on it... its just a normal screw on cap though, nothing fancy
