Nothing dodgy as the title suggests.

I am currently searching for my 1st beast and have found a few possibilities however Im curious as to how much movement in the price the dealers tend to have as im a bastard for trying to drive a bargain!

Anyone got any ideas or managed to get a decent chunk off in their experiences?

Cheers

Danny

You might have more success trying to blag a few extras like a helmet or tank bag if you wanted one.
As a new customer they will be interested in giving you a good experience which might have you back for several trade-ins.

I was actually thinking of pointing out the fact that I will most definitely be looking for something bigger in a years time. Just bought all my gear quite recently too so dont really need anything.

Well, you're looking for the right bike at the right time (from your point of view). They're not going to shift many CBR600RR stylees until spring.

On the other hand, I was sniffing around the low end of the market over the last two winters, and I could barely get a dealer to give me the time of day, let alone talk price.

I suspect that many of them go into hibernation over the winter and try and survive on selling neck warmers and winter gloves, rather than turning over bike stock. It's not going to depreciate much between now and next March, so what's their hurry to sell it at a discount now?

IMO, you're always going to pay a dealer premium, and whether that's worth 3 months of warranty (...over the winter...) is really down to you.

(Awaits news that you just scored a proper bargain Wink )

you won't be able to haggle money off a bike from a dealer very well, but you will be able to get some extras thrown in.
When haggling for my Bandit, they could only knock £300 off in cash, but they did fit a top box, rack, crash bars, and half the price of a restrictor kit for free, which was well over £300s worth.

Trade ins are crap though, they offer you a lot less than its worth, my girlfriends dad went to see what they'd offer his GSX1400 for, and they offered him £1k for it Shocked

How long is a piece of string!

You could walk into one dealer and get £500 off and into the next and get £50 off. It all comes down to how much the bike owes them and what they feel is the minimum margin acceptable.

One thing to remember is never be afraid to walk out the door, you often find that before to get out the premises they want to knock a bit more off or sweaten the deal. Even if they let you walk away if its the bike you want you can always go back and say you changed your mind.

Good luck.
Thumbs Up

Not sure about that to be honest. I think it depends what you are buying. I traded in my street triple r for the Tiger explorer and got £5300 for it. It needed a new rear tyre and service. When I went back there the shop had it advertised for £6190 and now at £5990. I don't think that they will make much money on that in the end.
