Hi all,

Need to scrap my car, don't have the V5, no chance of getting the V5.

It is registered in my name etc.

Do scrap yards still take them?

How do I tell the DVLA I no longer own it without the V5 slips?

Cheers

You say you posted the V5 to them declaring its scrapped.

They can do next to nothing.

Free car you say? Wink

You can't tell them on the V5 about scrapping any more, they removed that option.

Most scrap yards want the log book to take the car.

Either find one that will take it and write a letter to dvla that it has been scrapped, you have then advised them of such whether they like it or not or stick it on ebay in the parts section rather than cars for sale to avoid the £20-30 fees and let some other monkey deal with it but write to dvla with new keepers details stating you have lost the V5.

Cheers all.

DVLA wont give me a V5 as the car has a VIC marker against it.

Might have to phone them Crying or Very sad Thumbs Down .

That not a problem .
Scrape the car .you can use any i.d to do it .You dont need proof of ownership .Just have to prove were you live .

Then write to the dvla saying the vehicle has gone and on which dates and who to and they will send a letter confirming it as scraped.

Write to the DVLA telling them the car has been scrapped. Keep a copy of your letter. Put the letter in a correctly addressed envelope to the DVLA and send it first class. Get proof of posting (it is free at the post office) and keep your proof of posting with a copy of the letter you sent in a safe place.

You might end up needing that copy and proof of posting at an unspecified time in the future, should demands to pay bribes to Crapita hit your doormat.
