Can someone help me? I'm looking to restore/preserve a 1987 Honda CG125. Does anyone know what parts from the different years will fit this bike? I'm looking to make it look like the older style if possible. I'm pretty sure it's the Brazil model as well. Handlebars? Innstruments? Headlight/tail light? Forks? Wheels? Seat? Tank? Side covers? Thanks.

You shouldn't have much trouble changing the bits over, only potential issue may be the diameter of the fork stanchions; earlier bikes may be thinner - but why bother? You may also have a problem with side panels - if your bike is a Brazil model, I'm fairly sure the bottom mounting (of the 3) for the side panels changed.

Of course, anything is possible if you've got the time/inclination/money to throw at it, but... if you're going to spend a fair bit of money on buying 'old style' bits for your bike, it'll probably work out heck of a lot cheaper just to sell your bike as it is and buy a proper old one. Can't help thinking it would be far less hassle too.

Don't wanna go too "retro". Just what parts I can use without having to look for specifically for '87 parts.

If you want to keep costs down, but still go for the 'retro' look, a set of old-style clocks, a chrome front mudguard (if it'll fit), chrome rear guard (plus light assembly, etc) would probably get you most of the way there. BTW, am fairly sure you can get brand-new replica chrome rear guards that aren't over-expensive.

If you're repainting the bike, a CB125S (drum brake) colour scheme might work on your current tank/panels; otherwise old-style tank and seat will prob' fit, but the side panels may be a prob'.

If you want to complete the look, a CB125S exhaust system would finish it off.

Good luck,

Rick
