Well, I spent 25 minutes trying to figure out why my bike wouldn't turn over yesterday - thought maybe dodgy clutch / sidestand switch.

After mega time fucking about, thought I would try to bump start it by myself (Heaviest bike on the planet too bump start solo btw - ZX7R).

That failed, wouldn't try to start.

After about 40 minutes, I realised ...........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

THE FUCKING KILL SWITCH WAS IN THE OFF POSITION.

OMG - What a cock. I normally don't use the kill switch at all but obviously decided too use it to turn the bike off last time I fetched it in!

Not bromans.

Hahaha! Iv done this loads of times. Normally when the OH is the last person to ride my bike as he always uses the kill switch to turn off the bike, whereas I always use the key! Twisted Evil

On a side note he also always leaves my car in gear and I dont, cue bunny hopping Focus when I start it Doh!

Wow that sucks. I became a bit of a pro bump starting my TRX last week, as the battery died. I would say that an 850 twin is probably harder to bump than a 700 four...but they are both pretty damn heavy bikes so it's not too fun for either Laughing Replaced it with a motobatt one over the weekend which should hopefully last a little while.

Welcome to the club Laughing

I've done the same thing with my NC27 Smile

Just to add my other funny story, the bike was GPz550, I had it in gear and I had not noticed that and when my mates said, come on, fire it up, so we can hear it. I pressed the starter button with gear in and the bike jumps forward like 2 meters. I catched it in the last moment, what a laugh Laughing

Been there, done that too Embarassed

Thankfully, I realised after only a few minutes.

Horrible feeling though when you think you bike is completely dead.

Remember your driving lessons. Starting routine should be check mirrors and seat position (unless you don't share a car of course), check handbrake, check neutral, start car. Razz

Basics, innit. Wink

When I used to park in town there used to be a joker who would come along and go down the row of parked bikes flicking the kill switches to off.

Worst I have with that was when bike was new to me and riding home at night. In the middle of the countryside, pitch black piece of road. Trying to find the hi-beam and caught the kill switch. That sudden realisation bike is dying on you. Oh, how I laughed Wink

I've gotten into the habit of always starting the car with the clutch in - avoids precisely that sort of situation! (Mainly because I own a Saab and it has to be parked in reverse to take the key out).

Consequently it means I tend to leave cars in gear, so my GF is always bunny hopping her car down the road after I've driven it Laughing

Haha, I love this, new thing for me maybe! Very Happy

Did the old kill switch thing once to a mate a couple of years ago when we were going via train through the channel tunnel. Did it, forgot about it, we all started to ride down the train not realising he couldn't figure out why his bike wouldn't start, drove about 1 mile away to all regroup in a petrol station, my mate didn't turn up for ages. We tried calling, nothing, about 20 mins went by when he rolled up looking angrily at me! Laughing Laughing

Turns out he had 2-3 people from the train crew pushing him up and down the platform trying to bump start his CBR600, while all this is going on, it was holding up the train being loaded. then he realised!! Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

Turns out a 2008 CBR600rr turns over but doesn't fire when the kill switch has been flicked!

We all laughed at his misery!!! Laughing Laughing Laughing
