A wisdom tooth has popped up and everytime my teeth clamp shut it catches a bit of gum. It's created a small hole when the gum has been bitten off. I've had ibrubpophen (sp) and gargled with mouth wash and then salt water. I want to make a paste to numb the pain. Would paracetamol crushed up work?

Get to your dentists and get it ripped out. I had the same problem for years and it just got worse and worse.

Do yourself a favour and get it gone! Thumbs Up

I'm going to leave it for a while and see if it sorts itself out. Made some paste using salt and lemon, put it in the 'hole' for a few minutes. Feels a lot better now. Still have the pain, but it's bearable now.

A shot of whisky held in the mouth for a few minutes over the affected area kind-of worked when I had toothache in the past. Several shots of whisky stopped me worrying about the pain as much as well.

Also clove oil, dabbed on with a cotton bud or something has a numbing effect - tastes rank but it's a common DIY treatment for toothache.

When I had a tooth extracted once and shards of jawbone were working their way out through my gum, I just manned the F up and got on with my life. That worked Wink

Because it might push 'unconscious' Wink the other teeth and the teeth can grow criss-cross.

Having a fixed brace caused the side of mouth to get chewed up were the excess wire hanging out would catch on my cheek. Get some Bonjela on it and you'll soon forget about it.

tl;dr: MTFU

THIS Thumbs Up

The scary thing about wisdom teeth removal is they didn't tell me of the possible risk of loss of feeling in areas of the jaw until the day I was due to have them out! Shocked

Bonjela +1 - mine did this for about a month when they first came through, now no problem.

had same problem with mine. it turned out if u brush ur tooth and the surrounding gum really vigorously, the gum recedes and the tooth grew out quicker. have u tried teething gel for the pain, can buy it from the baby section of most shops.

now i have one wisdom which is impacted and causes nothing but pain. wonder whether it's best to see if it'll grow out or get it removed.

This is when you'd go to the dentist to get your emerging wisdom teeth evaluated to check if they will fit or cause problems later on, in which case it's best to remove them before they start pushing the neighbouring teeth wonky or be such a tight fit that you won't be able to keep them clean.

Or you could just post on a motorbike website and carry on wondering.

Go and get them checked.

I'm having to be knocked out so they can rip all four of mine out... Really NOT looking forward to it!
