I've trotted this story out a couple of times but basically I didn't take either of my tests on the bike I set out to the test centre on for various reasons.
I broke down on the way to Silverstone for my Mod 1, in the pissing rain, sent my gf ahead on her bike and hitched to the circuit. Took the test on her bike and passed. It was the first time I'd ever ridden it.
Got a puncture on the way to Oxford for my Mod 2. Couldn't pull the same trick as our Mod 2 tests were on at the same time so I phoned Lightning training school, near the stadium, and asked if I could borrow a bike for the test. Got down there, ran in, they kicked a lad doing his CBT off an old CG and I went on to pass on it. It was also my first time on the bike.
Edited to add... They didn't charge me a penny.
I think the nerves which are common to taking a test were outweighed by the relief of getting there at all, which helped.
TL;DR
I took both my tests on bikes I'd never sat on before and passed. Don't sweat it. ____________________ Greetings from Shitsville!

Test time is at 10:25 so if I hired one, hopefully I would get a good hour or 2 to practice
I already know what to expect on the mod 1 which should make things easier, it's mainly the swerve I am bothered about as on the bike I'm used to I went way to fast into it and ended up locking up the rear. I know the school and know they would lend me a YBR which I know will actually make my slow speed manoeuvres easier due to the geometry.
Thank you for the replies anyway, the only thing that will affect it now is cost as I'm an almost broke student ____________________ Bandit 600 - deaded |
