okay so since passing my module 1 i've not given the module 2 a second thought. the prospect didnt bother me at all.

but i just booked it for tuesday and already i feel like i have a rock in my throat, might be because i'm extremely tired but wow i need to relax.

still, 30th of this month hopefully i'll be passing my module 2 in folkestone.

well my biggest let down is life savers, but i've been trying to get into the habit lately so that shouldnt be a problem, apparently theres alot of speed changes in the area so will need to keep an eye open for the limit signs.

the test is at 2:40 so hopefully the roads will be busy with moms in wagons clogging up the roads

I was exactly the same and getting bothered about bad habits I'd picked up from 25 years of car driving and the fact that the only bike training I'd had was my CBT 17 months ago...
When I was in the test centre I was just pacing around the room! (luckily I was the only one in there!!!) and when the examiner came in and asked for my license etc I was shaking so badly I had serious difficulty getting the bloody photocard bit out of my wallet...as soon as I was on the bike though, all that disappeared and as most others on here say, it was just like a ride out with a satnav.

tl;dr Don't sweat it, you'll be fine.

awesome, good luck to you too! lots of traffic queued up at lights and long queues to get through sound like perfect conditions, less time riding, less change to mess up sorta thing.

but knowing my personal luck the roads will be clear sailing.

that said, dude cant fault me for road possition, i tend to stick either center of the land or to the right of the lane, except in corners where i come in wide, cut in and exit wide. making full use of the road im entitled to do. and if he DARE mark me down for that, i'll kick my bike over, start it up and stamp his face into the spinning tire!

(been up all night, i get cranky when tired lol)

I have heard of people, well two people, getting minors for that. There are a few things tought in advanced riding that will get you minors on your Mod 2.

Good luck on Tuesday

Booked another immediately, found a slot for 3 weeks' time but will be checking for cancellations - I need to have as many goes as possible before Jan, maybe I'll pass by pure chance on one of them.

Are these roads is downtown Los Angeles? Razz

It's just a bike ride. Nice and confident, ignore the examiner up your... tailpipe, job done.

thanks, seriously though, why get marked down for making full use of the road, IMO its just having a good line through the corner and is likely to be safer way to do it. at least i feel safest that way, and christ isnt that what counts? safety?

bet the examiners who marked them 2 down was looking for someone to rage on.

Depends very much on the situation. On a right hander, having the wheels of the bike near the centre white line at the apex could put you in a lethal position with regard to oncoming traffic. Similarly, gravel in the gutter could make using the left hand side of the lane dangerous. I'd personally try to stay in a centre-positive position (do they still call it that?) 90% of the time in a test situation, moving a little left in the lane on a right hander.

I don't think you get bonus points for improving your lap time, so there's no real point in trying to take the racing line on your test.

thing is, i see a corner and end up visualising the line through it based on speed, alot of the roads i use are 50 and 70 zones and have some hairy corners on them, i've tried taking these corners differently but just dont feel safe and had to slow down for them, taking the "race line" meant i could safely get through the corner without having to slow as much and not slow down the traffic behind as badly.

in turn leads to fewer dodgy overtakes by the cagers behind me

Riding like that is great when youve got your licence, but do ANY of that on your mod2 and you can kiss goodbye to your £75.

Being a good race rider doesnt get you brownie points with the examiner. Like others have said, if you use advanced riding techniques on your test then you will fail.

but why? its called making full use of your lane.

dont mistake what ive said for being stupidly close to the edges of the lane by the way, i dont get so close that the bike leans over either of the lane lines.

it just makes absolutely no sense that they can or would mark you down for using your lane to its full potential.

I dont know...but maybe you could try it and let us know how it goes, for all we know it may be acceptable and the examiner will praise your excellent racing line and pass you.

The "Roadcraft" system is to stay near the outside of any curve (traffic allowing). This gives you more visibility, and decreases the effective tightness of the turn, both of which mean that you can keep your road speed up more safely. Heck, coppers used to (but don't any more) use the RHS of the road on approach to left hand bends.

I mention this just FYI, I'm not really sure what use you're making of the lane.
