To go from having passed my CBT to passing a standard licence test? before january 2013 without knowing how to use gears?

And how much would this cost?

Reason i ask is because i'd rather pay 125-150 quid knowing i can get a 33bhp bike than pay £100 and be stuck with a 125 for 2 years.

Would i have to buy a bike before to learn or not? Because i don't really have the money to buy a a bike and insure it before jan 2013, thanks!

It's still achievable if you acted NOW to book your theory (and were willing to travel to get a prompt appointment), immediately booked your Mod 1 after (again prepared to travel), took training in the meantime etc. But yes you need the money to do this, and if you don't have it, you've got no chance.

if you don't know how to use gears you will basicaly fail your test... the instructor has eyes you know, you may not get just one serious fault but you not being able to use gears will result in defects in various areas of your riding eg cornering, pulling away, this will result in the accumulation of all of minors

In your case it will cost far more than a few pounds here and there. Since you can't afford to purchase a bike, your only optionssis to go via school then on top of that test fees and most likely retakes.

If you can't / don't want to learn how to correctly use a bikes gearing, how can you fully expect to know how to ride a bike?

Yes there are big bikes with automatic gearboxes, but you say that you're short on funds now so purchasing that option is a no no.

If you're under the impression that you just point & steer a bike, I'm sorry I don't wish to be rude, but you still have an awful lot to learn & suss.

Good luck with whichever direction you take Thumbs Up

Two irreplaceable days ago, Rogerborg very helpfully wrote:
If you're in any way serious, try and book [your motorcycle theory test] now.

Do it, don't do it, but asking more questions isn't getting it done. Tick, tock.

I also listed the cost of the tests, and I'll even do the sums for you: it's £121.50 just for the 3 tests (theory, mod 1, mod 2).

How much more it costs than that is entirely up to the local training schools, and how much training they'll insist on before renting you a bike to sit your tests on. I know you've been riding a ped around, but that might just mean you've picked up some bad habits that need shouted out of you, as well as picking up gears.

You're going to have to pick up the phone and call them. Expect something like two days plus a test day, which means that you're looking at north of £400 in addition to the £121.50 in test fees.

Alternatively, do you have anyone locally who can insure and loan you their 125 for practice and tests? Ask, and you might receive.

But again: book your theory now, you'll need to have it passed before you can even book mod 1.
