Hi guys,

I have 5 years of experience riding a Honda CBR 600 F (1995 model) and I am looking to get another 2nd hand motorcycle for commuting, as I spent over £1000 on fixing stuff on the bike this year and I'm still not 100% happy with it.

Price range = £1000-2000 (the cheaper the better tbh)

I am looking for a motorcycle which is comfortable, has good acceleration (especially in the low end of the rev range), is fuel efficient, easy to get spare parts for, and can comfortably carry a pillion passenger. Top speed is not really an issue.

I could just get another CBR 600 F which I am heavily leaning towards, but just wondering if you guys know of any other bikes which are good for commuting in the price range specified.

Thanks for your time.

Would say a thundercat which is cheap, comfy, fairly fast and decent mpg. However the acceleration will be pretty much the same as your cbr. If you want something with more 'kick' then your cbr you could get a 1litre bike but ofcourse they don't have fantastic mpg. You could always get a 'cat/ another cbr and down gear it?

If you don't mind higher mpg you could look at the sv1000?

Doesn't nessecarily need to be faster than a CBR600F.

Mine pulls away like a snail atm... QQ Until you hit around 5k revs. Not sure really what is causing it. Replaced the front section of the exhaust this year which cost an arm and a leg, (old one was really rusting and leaking exhaust) but that didn't seem to fix it.

Yeh i understand. The sv1000 has only a slight higher top speed.. The reason i recommended it is because it's a V twin and it being a 1 litre means you won't lose any speed then if you bought the sv650 compare to a 600 inline 4.

Has it always pulled away 'slow'? Because it should get to 60 in something like 3.8 seconds so it should be fairly quick from a stand still.

First thing i would do i find out if that's how the bike is and you've out grown the bike or if there is a problem with the bike. If the bike is fine mechanically i would first down gear it then if you're no pleased with the difference then buy a different bike. Maybe a TL1000s/sv1000
