Well i went for a last ride on my kmx today, as ive declared SORN on it now, until ive re-built it. I went to the practice MX track at Grafton Mannor, in Bromsgrove. What i saw was frankly frightening. Basically there was everyone from 6-8yr old kids, to adults riding around mostly on the track but in all directions around the surrounding field, on everything from PW50's and minicrossers to CR500's! also there were a few quads and trikes, of all types and sizes. some people had full MX protective gear on, whilst others just a T-shirt and shorts, and some of the kids dads were riding thier bikes around the track with no helmets! I was amazed really just how disorganised and dangerous the whole thing was really! I cant see how you can allow open class crosser's onto a track with kids, women, young children etc, all hacking around with no organisation or rules. The little guys with their pw's etc should have their own track, and not have guys flying past them over jumps, and going flat out on on KX250's etc, just inches away from them. I even saw one kid crash a quad bike into the back of a van, as he tried to brake with the throttle still wide open. The 2 dads sat there had to dive out of the way! Im not against people having places where they can go and have fun riding their off road bikes in safety away from public land etc, but surely at places like this some organisation and rules/supervision is needed, or something nasty could easily happen.
Anyway i was enjoying the last ride on my bike, well until the last 1/2 mile from my house, when i went down a hill only going slow, as i was about to turn left, when i heard a pop/snapping sound, and my bike coasts to a stop. Thought id broke the chain or something, but as i can operate the kick starter with my hand which you cant normally do on a kmx, i know its the second 2stroke engine ive had go pop! At least this bike had done 19.5k (dont think the engine has ever been rebuilt), the last one had done 3k from new when i broke it lol! Oh well, i was only thinking last week if i should have tidyied it up and sold it, as i wasnt sure if i should try to get a cheap CRM instead for my SM project.

I used to go to Kart testing days a lot & it was the same there.

You'd have kids going round on lawnmower based things doing about 5 MPH & on the same track people flying 'round at 80+ testing their gearbox kart.

Its insane but it seems to be how its done!
