I know it's a 125cc but it still gets to 70mph+ (hopefully) Just remove L plates and it's perfect.

Just cheap insurance, Tax and MPG.

(Only pics I could get ATM since it is still in the dealership)

Looks nice for a 125, 70 in short bursts should be doable too and if you get less than 90 mpg you are really wringing its neck.

Out of interest though, why not buy back the GS500 in your sig? It would barely notice cruising at 70, up a hill, and they're not bad on fuel.

Just would like a change/more sporty bike. And 125's are just too fun Wink

Not being funny but your sig says about "until money is sorted" yet your other post in the other thread says about the bike being on Finance...

You got rid of a 500 which should be cheap insurance for a sporty, newer 125 which will probably be even more expensive on insurance than the 500?

I have got a part time job now so I can afford finance and the GS 500 was good and cheaper but I just want a change. Also the GS500 was too easy as you could just go around the corners slowly and catch up on the straight, but with the 125 you would need to plan the road ahead more.

Might remove the GS from my sig since I don't think I will buy it back (my friend likes it anyway) Need to edit my sig now anyway.

So you have recently passed your test and are now spending thousands buying on a 125 on the chucky?

Hang on whats all the hate for? It's my money, 125's are more fun and when the time comes to sell this bike (2 years) I could get £2500 at least for it and then I would have a lot more money to spend on a big bike with no restrictions.

For me It's a WIN WIN WIN.

I can also build my NCB up to 4 years, with less chance of me being in an accident.

He has a point...

In order to go fast on a 125 you have to work for it to grab every drop of power the bike offers. To get around a corner quickly and get to your destination quickly, you need to learn how to carry speed through corners and corner quickly. How to power out of corners.

On a bigger bike you can just approach the corner quickly, slow down to go around it and speed up once your straight again. These people are called straight line heros.

It doesn't reflect on the person's abilities to read the road and not be a danger to other people...

Also... if you did think that somebody was dangerous... why on earth would you recommend them to get a car? Crash on a bike, hurt yourself, everyone else will probably be fine. Crash in a car and hurt yourself and someone else...

Sorry but there are none of them on Ebay for £2500 at 2 years old, even at dealer/retail prices. If you look after it you might get £1700 if you get some wide eyed rich person who falls in love with it.

The most expensive 2011 bike is £2199, with 1K miles in London. I recon they would take £2K for it.

Short version, it is not an investment.

hmmmmm so a 125 that is going to be ridden hard, looks like it would be written off if it falls off the stand, and cant be de-restricted..you're gunna pay probably twice what the bikes worth on HP..and then sell it for over £2k when its paid off, and you see it as a win win?????

Why not buy an NSR full power 30 odd bhp, and about half what you'r gunna pay for the cbr..

OR go back to the GS..
Its your money..but jesus you're gunna regret it!!

I did rush that, I was supposed to type £1500 (minimum) to £2500.

Since when I sell it the bike would have sliders, new exhaust system, double bubble screen, performance tires and quite a few other mods.

Bollocks.

Carrying speed through the corners is a world apart from nailing it around every corner.

Quite, but as it sounded like OP had been racing on public roads I assumed cornery hoonery was on the agenda.

As stated in the trip to scotland thread. This is a silly purchase. You are now in the same folder on my desktop as kingsknight.

Has the ability to ride something a little nicer.

You will strain the engine if you sit at 70.

A CB250 will pootle at that speed.

£3000 will get you anything from a CB500 to a 2004 Fireblade...

What you have done is bought a slow as fuck bike that you WILL get bored of in a year. You WILL.

When summer comes and you see people cruising on their 600s, you'll be crying in your helmet.

I hated being on a 125 when I passed my test, now I have loads of bikes for each mood Laughing

Thank you! Glad someone said it. This is not a sports bike, so don't kid yourself into thinking it'll be a sporty ride.

My ninja was a sports bike, and a fat lazy one by today's standards, to the point where I'd consider it as a sports tourer. Your bike will be more like a commuter in a frock.

I'm not bashing your decision though. I wouldn't have done it, but if you enjoy it then more power to ya.

I don't understand why everyone is giving him a load of shit, personally I've had big bikes but my most epic laughs have come from being on CG125's piss balling about and wringing it's neck. He's passed his test, the fuel eco, tax, insurance surely must be fuck all on a little CBR125 so what's the big problem? Thinking

Deffo this Thumbs Up

I'll probably get a 125 again some day to commute on (maybe), and it is a tasty looking thing. Quite like the exhaust too Confused

As above, it's not for me, although I might buy second or third hand once the original owner has had it a year, got bored, and paid a LOT of depreciation.

I learned the new 125 depreciation lesson on my first bike Embarassed

Has full license, buys a brand new 125... Thinking 125cc 4stroke is more fun than a big bike? wtf? People who say that must live in London or something, they're dangerous where I ride, far too slow for anything other than commuting. I'd agree if it was a 2smoker but not a modern FI 4stroke CBT machine.
