In English: a recumbant with a bodyshell and a motor.

You'll look like a giant cock. Literally. It won't filter as well as any 2 wheeler. In the event of a collision (which seems likely) you'll need to be cut out of it. Even with electric assist, it's still no faster than a moped. It's a Sinclair C5 with the wheels the right way round.
And yet... hmm... no license plate (so you're effectively above the law, like every other pedalist, amirite?), no insurance, can be realistically charged off a solar panel (charge one battery at home during the day, swap out each night), plus you'll look like a giant cock.
Anyone remotely tempted? ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

I can't see it being a hit with school run mums, although they are the people more likely to actually SMIDSY hit it. ____________________ ...and the whirlwind is in the thorn trees, it's hard for thee to kick against the pricks...

The article was a bit of eye opener about the mess of laws and licensing that are essentially keeping efficient, lightweight, usable vehicles off the road.
There is the interesting suggestion that because it's enclosed, how is anyone going to know that you're electrolocomoting instead of pedalling? If you just say that it's a 25kph electric vehicle, then it flies under the regulatory radar. The perfect crime? ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

I've got some odd looks when I'm pedaling slowly and zipping up a hill on my electric bike. (Do need to assist the motor to keep the pace going, but when I was a bit more overweight it'd mean the difference between getting to the top a bit sweaty/tired and being fine as well as a fair bit quicker.)
How are people to know I don't just have really powerful legs?
Some most-excellent 'trolling' can be found here along that vein. |
