its been an ambition of mine since I saw Floyd in 1990 to have a real kick ass laser show
even before that I wondered if it was possible to project a laser display on the moon
(answer yes it is but you need the US national grid and defence budget to do it)

anyway I divulge
recently I have bought a 60mW green scan laser unit and I'm in the process of buying software and hardware to do laser shows
I have also bought a 500mW RGB scan to allow me to do full colour animation due to arrive tomorrow
but I'm currently looking at a 2.8w RGB which are selling on fleabay for about £1000

I'm also just about to buy Pangolin Quick show software and DAC to control them
I've been trying the demo of the software for a couple of days and have some pretty good results
and at £400 for the DAC and software I feel its well worth the expense as I love it to bits

anyone else into this stuff that could give me some guidance before I bite off more than I can chew

what are you cutting with that ?? and what bandwidth (colour)
red and blue require approx 2x the amount of power that green does to achieve the same result

but yes please bit of DIY and alignment I could put they through a 30kpps galvo
and as its CO2 cooled it will be mono so no good for animation
(BTW floyd had 25w of lasers for earls court full RGB from 8 separate colour heads)

last night I used the flats behind me as a screen to play with the 60mw green (2 minutes into the video)
before we were playing with a bomb tank and theatrical pyrotechnics's

Ox lasers are good. Only do pointers. Got a 200mw green and red, and just got a 1.2w blue. Good for burning but nothing else. Divergence is crap on them.
Was interested in a dmx rgb 3watt from a guy called Dave Wang, but costs too much for me.

Here's the site, www.brandnew-china.cn/productgrouplist-212925709/RGB_Laser_Projector.html

Prices differ mainly with beam divergence and galvo pps speed.

The ones on that site for a 3w are from 3k to 5k iirc, and have 30-40k scanners and pretty good divergence, around 30 degrees. I have an emailed price list somewhere.
