Multiple layers Thumbs Up

Thermal T-Shirt, T-Shirt & Textile jacket with thermal layer is what I wear when it gets abit cold out.
However I would recommend long sleeves, I've found leaving one area exposed compromises the entire kit your wearing.
Short sleeves are my weak link & I'm reminded of it after long rides.

Be sure to check other places, e.g. thermalshop.co.uk, when comparison shopping. I've found sportsbikeshop.co.uk to be consistently one of the most expensive places to buy stuff.

If I'm reading you right, you could do with something windproof on your legs - e.g. textile trousers on top. Would make a big difference, also for safety.

while edz are great they're certainly not cheap.

lidl were doing very cheap base layers yesterday.. might still have a few. they do come up pretty regularly in their deals

Primark thermal bottoms.

But apparently Matalan are doing tops and bottoms for £4 each. So I'll be checking that out.

I've got some hiking thermals from a camping shop, £20 for the set, brilliant at keeping you warm, and have a set of the Lidl ones, do the job but not quite as comfy.
Avoid motorcycle specific ones (unless they are REALLY cheap) as they are pretty much the same as cheaper ones

I have just gotten back from Matalan, picked up one of the thermal sweaters as well as a pair of thermal long johns and 'heat holders' socks that someone mentioned in another thread. The trousers and sweaters were £8 each and the socks £6 I think. Trying them on they feel quite warm, especially the socks. I am doing a 70 mile round trip tomorrow so will be able to review how effective they are after Thumbs Up

I have EDZ thermals that I've worn in the worst of conditions. Would happily recommend them

Hahaa not quite. The thermals worked really well, especially the socks. They are quite large but kept me really warm, so would highly recommend them! The long johns and sweater worked well, with just a pair of jeans, sweater and then textiles over. The only thing that started to get cold were my fingers (although this was only the last 5 miles or so on the way home), using Spada Enforcers. The tempreture by this point was around 4 degrees celcius and on NSL roads. Going to take a look at bar muffs/heated grips as well as a more effective buff as my face also started to get cold after a while.

No its not long sleeve but still really good value and really warm. The inside of the tshirt and leggings are fleeced as well.

EDIT: I ordered 3 more sets yesterday, always good to have spares at that price.

Maybe it's because I have my own fat duvet, but I never really get cold on the bike.

My commute is 30-35mins, I'm still wearing jeans. I rode home about 30 miles Saturday night at about 23:00.

I had jeans a T-shirt a Hoodie and my jacket without the lining.

Only this week have I put the lining in my jacket on the way to work and I only wear a polo shirt under that. I do have heated grips and handguards.

The only time I'd put my textile on is if I was travelling for more than an hour or it was raining/threatening to rain.

NEC bike show looming in Nov-Dec I probably won't wear base layers even then as the spada jacket is well warm, not bad for £60 from bmf much warmer than a jacket that is £400 more my Hein gericke explorer.if you ride all year round day in day out you can withstand more temperature highs n lows .
