So while I admit this is hardly worth a thread, it is a trick I will probably use again and may be helpful to somebody some time so here it is.
This evening my top box key dropped off of my keyring as I was backing the bike out of the space at work. I have spares at home, but I'd locked my house keys in the top box and my girlfriend wont be home until near 9, so I had to find them.
A quick search showed they weren't on the ground so they must have fallen into the bike somewhere, but I couldn't for the life of me see them, I had the torch on my phone, and I tried sticking my fingers into all of the little nooks in the engine and up behind the exhausts but found nothing.
I was on the verge of heading home and waiting for my girlfriend to come back when I the idea of using the the camera on the phone to look into the holes I couldn't see of feel properly in to popped into my head... clicky
As you can see from the video I spotted it tucked behind a spark plug on cylinder 2, no way I would have spotted it without using the camera.
May be a useful tip for somebody in the future. ____________________ I am a bellend, I am a man of constant sorrow, I am a gummy bear, I am a rock. |

Not boring at all - unfortunately I've reached the age where I need reading glasses, if I've forgotten them I often use the camera on my iphone to zoom in on components, data labels, part & serial numbers etc. and I've used it a a portable video/inspection light to check for corrosion under wings and mudguards. ____________________ Current Carz: Jeep Liberty, Kia Sorrento Diesel

A useful tip.
Have done something similar when sorting out petrol cap lock on the wife's car. Took lining out of the boot but couldn't see how to remove as it was still behind metal framework. Ended up sticking my hand in the gap and taking pictures with the phone. Saw that it was an obvious slide out, just not in the direction I'd been trying ____________________ ...and the whirlwind is in the thorn trees, it's hard for thee to kick against the pricks...
