Not sure if this is one for random banter or not... but here goes.

It's been more or less a year since I had my heart bypass, and I'm sure there is possibly the odd one or two on here that have had one, (mine was only a single), anyway a couple of things.

First if anyone has had a bypass, how long ago and do you still get the odd twang in the chest? I've given up getting worried, but at least every couple of days I get the odd stabbing feeling in the chest... one of my neighbours had one done about 6 years ago and said she still gets the odd chest pains.

Also When I had it done I was told it would last up to 10 years, the thing that concerns me is I'm only 39 now... Has anyone had one done more than 10 years ago?

Are you seriously asking BCF about heart pain after a bypass operation?

Get the fuck to your doctor and ask him. That is what we pay them for.

I don't know anything about having a heart by-pass, but I agree with above that if your having chest pain's you should pester your doctor into investigating or at least checking you over to re-assure you.

I'm having on-going tests and referral's at the moment for chest pains, and a random irregular heartbeat. I would not class it as serious, but it's been occurring for over 6months now, so I have decided to keep going to my doctor/hospital to try and get it sorted out. I've got my ECG test results arriving next week, so will take it from there.

I hope you get down to see your doc soon and that everything is fine and gets sorted out quickly anyway!

No Artist, I was asking if anyone has had a bypass, and if they still got chest pain (trust me the doctor probably got fed up seeing me the first few months after the op... same with the hospital).

Also maybe read the post before barking orders... I can't remember saying 'heart pain'... I said 'chest pain'.... big difference I think you'll find.

But thanks for the advice Thumbs Up

An inlaw had one done 25 years ago and is still hanging in there.

But then he's not a pisshead who recommends deep fried bacon as a treat.

Andy, I love you, but... come on, man, get it together. Nobody here with your bests interests at... heart... is going to tell you that chest pains are nothing to bother about. Quacks can't fix you, but they can tilt the odds in your favour, and give you an honest, evidence based assessment of your condition.
