Had a similar problem recently with car insurance so is probably the same for bikes.

In my experience it depends on the insurer.

Some (mainly the cheaper ones on the comparison sites) would only accept my NCB if it was less than 12 months old.

Most of the others however were happy to accept my NCB if my last
policy ended less than 24 months ago (so mine was ok).

Looking at your dates you may be out of time, although I have also heard that NCB can be accepted if over 24 months old but unfortunately I didn't find any examples of this when I was checking Thumbs Down

I think it's usually 2 years, but it depends what YOUR insurance company says.

My (car) insurance company said they would recognise the 2 full NCB that I acquired as a named driver on my dads car, but that when they issued a certificate at the end of my policy it would only be for the NCB I'd earnt as a main driver. Other companies refused to recognise them.

So it varies I guess.

i had loads and my insurance was tuppence ha'penny, they held onto it for 3 years. . . .but it's all gone now Crying or Very sad

I don't know what happens with a ban though. Speak to your insurer cos it sounds like they vary.

NCB / NBD (they can't even get the name consistent) is entirely at the whim of individual insurers. There's no one-story-fits-all answer, you'll have to call around.

You were banned, some time before July 2010, so you've been riding illegally for over two years. In my experience you don't get a ban for something simple - and I'm guessing a two year stretch means it's either Dangerous Driving or Being Pissed*. You twat.

I reckon the increased weight on a policy for the reason of a proper ban might well outweigh any NCB you might have previously accrued, and I cannot imagine there exists an insurance company that doesn't take advantage of a court ruling to fiscally fist someone.

*The court may record this with a different term.
