Hi guys,

My GSXR1000 K4 has been stolen in broad daylight between 4.30-5.00pm from outside Birmingham University Medical School - literally on their car park, with monitored barriers to prevent vans. Bike was immobilised, alarmed and steerling lock on.

They are refusing to view the CCTV until the police file a data protection act request. By then my bike will be in pieces.

So yeah, keep your eyes out people.

Thanks,

GhostRider

They tried to steal my Divvy from just over the road, outside of the Computer Science building. Only reason they didn't get it was due to the fact I caught the guy in the act.

The police looked within a week at my footage I believe but that's definitely going to be too late.

Was it not chained up too? The guy that tried to steal mine had no tools of any kind. Just snapped the steering lock and started wheeling it away.

The security office gave me the same excuse though, I just didn't challenge it as I doubted I would see anything useful in the video.

Utter cunts mate. If I spot it when I head up next week ill rob it back!

I'd get police down there, they won't refuse a police officer access to footage. They didn't with any of my CCTV stuff. Speak to their boss, keep going higher buddy.

Gutted for you!

Really sorry for you buddy.

This is the exact reason I carry the almax. Yes it is a pain in the arse, but I dare to think of the day when someone tries to steal my bike.

Yea - another vote for going higher.

If you don't get anywhere quickly, I'd get on to facebook and twitter, tagging both them and the local newspapers.

The data protection act may actually relate to your property, so you may be able to request the footage yourself.
Of course, they have 40 days to provide it and may blank out faces, but it'd be a start knowing at what time, how and what direction they went.

I couldn't catch my fucking breath at the farce.

Immediately when I realised my bike had gone I go into the security office and say "You guys got the CCTV pointe don the car park right?!

"Yeah, but it don't record anything"

".....you fucking what?!"

Apparently the supervisor had punched out at 5 o clock so "id have to wait till tomorrow". Told them to get fucked they can ring the guy now - I'd already phoned the police by this point and reported the bike stolen - so I was like I think since this is now a police matter it warrants getting the guy on the phone.

This twat comes on and says only police can view the footage after they've completed a data protection release form, then started saying "I doubt your bike was in view anyway, and to be honest once a bikes gone the chances of seeing it again are pretty much zero".

I was like "whos fucking side you on mate? Sounds like your system is set up to assist the criminals" Then he starts spouting shit about "theres a sign at the front stating you leave your vehicle at your own risk" Utter and complete cunt.

No chain - given that it was parked outside the security office, top of the barrier entry car park, under CCTV, in broad daylight, immobiliser and alarmed - I'd always figured it was pretty safe - I've been parking my bike there for 4 years without problems so never considered it a risk.

One of the security said they were out for a smoke at 4.30pm and it was there, I finished work at 5pm and it was gone.

My feeling is they snapped the steering lock and wheeled it down to the main road where a van was probably waiting. Of course all this speculation could be solved by the CCTV. I saw the screens, the cameras will catch at least 2 different angles.

Nah but the folks live down Rednal and I drive all over Bham frequently so wouldn't be surprised if you have seen me about.

It aint really sunk in yet, but its getting there thinking about the money I've spent on it, let alone the value of the bike, looking forward to the insurance trying to fuck me over.

Did and oil and filter change last week and put bloody tax on it (thankfully now only 6 months). But still combined that's £100 down the drain alone.

I fucking loved that bike, best one I've owned, now my premium is gonna fuck me into oblivion, and worst of all its put me back on trains for the next few weeks at least. Oh and I'm still paying the fucking thing off as well.

Shit fucking day Sad

If you get stuck you could probably borrow my diversion for a bit.

Always worth checking out the surrounding area to see if it has been dumped to return to later... though hotwiring isn't really a difficult task so I wouldn't be holding my hopes out. The guy that tried to nick mine was just a chav in a hoodie... so there's not definitely going to be a van involved.

Ah shit man, just seen this on your Facebook too. That's not cool.. not at all Sad

Sorry to hear, I hope you either get it back to you in one piece or find out who took it and skullfuck them into oblivion with your brummie cock.

Police being useless.. and the CCTV fiasco reminds me of when my Hornet was knocked over at a petrol station. Run inside to get the car's plate.. and guess what? CCTV too blurry. Well fat fucking lot of good that is..!

I now have reason to believe the bike may now be in Cornwall - a page I shared it on facebook with had a reply from some cunt boasting about how he was the one who stole it, describing how he did it, saying "the security guard on the steps needs to be fired".

I have a screen shot, im not going to post it here as I've just contacted the police and informed them so don't want to compromise anything, im hoping they can get the IP address from it and track this cunt down - but if anyone has friends in cornwall they can ask to keep a eye out for it, I would love to be able to get my bike back.

The plot thickens.....

1. What the hell is the CCTV for then? and the security guard if not to protect the vehicles? Really pisses me off as it seems most security is there for faff all!

2. I would check about that no responsibility nonsense. I'm no legal man but I worked in a gym and it had signs everywhere stating that in the changing rooms. Loads of lockers were getting broken into and manager gave that line to the members - anyway, group of them took the gym company to court and turned out someone weren't always signing the locker room inspection sheet so judge ruled it was down to gym negligence!

3. Sure this guy on Facebook ain't a troll? If not he's a doughnut!

This... The guy is probably a troll just trying to annoy you. Sad

Bike is either in a rough area not far away or being stripped for bits.

Can offer money for its safe return if you are feeling flush, I figure £100 cash tempts the scum to out their fellow faggots, its cheaper than going through insurance... Neutral

Naturally it could be someone on a wind up, but I'm not gonna chance ignoring it.

The weird thing is this guys profile just has pictures of bikes - either top end sports bikes or scramblers, or very nice cars, dating back over a year, it looks like some bloody catalog for "I can rob this if anyones interested".

Plus he mentioned the security guard - I'd not said a word about any guards anywhere. And the security guard claimed to have gone out for a cigarette at 4.30, so this actually matches up - the guy was either scoping the place, waiting for the guard to piss off, or the guard just stood there and did nothing, and is trying to cover his own arse, hence the "the cctv doesn't record"/"angles were probably out" lines.

Pretty sure you can claim back your tax disc, okay not much of a silver lining in the cloud of doom but might as well get that done.

I'm the only rider who puts a disc lock on the bike outside my office. I've never seen anyone else bother and often wondered if I'm wasting my time. I think I'll carry on just in case.

I wouldn't be suprised if the 'security' guard was in on it.

See, it crossed my mind when he stepped away from his post, he is either sticking to a tight schedule and been watched or conveniently stepped away to allow this scum to pick it up, share of the funds for shipping it out of the area..

That is paranoid old me though.

By the sounds of it actually stepped 'into' the action for his smoke break and wouldn't have normally been positioned there.

Could have been acting as a 'look out', but I doubt it in that situation.

Still, wouldn't be surprised to hear security had dropped the bloke a text to say there was something interesting. An awful lot of the security industry are wannabe small time gangsters.
