Uh-Oh! Shocked
The start of another Super-Dream Sanitarium!

It'll turn up, he'll look at the clocks.... look at the rest of it, and have the idea... 'Hmmm... I'll JUST see if it'll run..... JUST for the heck of it, you know....... Ooooh! That's coooool! It 'goes brooooom!'... Ok, well it goes weeeee.....weeeeee. chugga-chuggam put-put-put-put', but STILL! I wonder if I can get it propper going?...... seems a shame to break it........

I started of with four; a complete Dodo, fit only to be broken for spares, then another followed; too good to be a project, but a fix & ride while Snowie learned how long 'projects' take... another followed for HER to do as a project, and another for ME to do as a project.... how many is that we're up to? Ah, yes, but the one I got came with one as a donor....... but, but, but it RUNS.... seems a shame to break it! Oooh? what's this? A non Runner... that's novel.. I have a spare engine.... I know, I'll get THAT as the 'Rider', be quicker than fixing the one that's too nice to be a project......

Hmmm.... I think that took us up to 'Number Seven'!

Ah! A pile of Super-Dream Spares! Oh That looks useful. Might be able to put that and the duffer together and make another out of it!

What? You have a dead Super-Dream, you want it out your garage, missus is moaning? Sure, All grist to the mill! What's this? Another engine and HOW many bits?!?!?!?

I have lost track now.... Snowie's is 'Done'.... ish....... that's one. The Corporal, I think was number seven, that got done, and Smiler had it... that's two...... The one that was too nice to be a project, that's ALMOST back together.... Snowie, bored one day MADE it a project deciding to 'help' and took it all to pieces!... That's Three.....

The one I was going to have as a project still hasn't been touched, but is still in one piece, as is the one that was supposed to be a donor, but refused to die..... that takes us to five..... then there is a frame and forks and engine lying in the shed, that look horribly like they might, with a lot of the bits lying around, make up a sixth 'whole' bike.....

IT NEVER ENDS!

It shouldn't have been called the super-dream but 'the recurring night-mare'!

Laughing well this will be number 3 when it arrives on the 9th of november so im still fairly safe in comparison to your seven! though i didnt plan another one it just worked out pretty much as you said
well the decsription was something like 'its all there but its all in boxes'

you could be right regarding if i want to do it up... i have a little bet on with myself when it arrives
IF the frame and engine numbers match i will want to do it up as close as i can get to a full original resto however if they dont match im going to try and keep it as a breaker, really like the idea of having one with the original motor as none of mine have!!

i actually planned to get an old cg when this was done and play with it, something ive wanted to do for a while.

get an old cg rip it to bits and build it up to look something of a much older bike.
chinky twin port head, so dual pipes with bsa style silencers, single seat with a low rear mudguard maybe from an old cz? then stick a flat rack on top of that, drop the bars, custom light, number plate etc it goes on but still maybe i will get to do it someday!

for now ive just got the 2 dream 125's
the silver one that i call 'the tart' it sits there looking pretty with pretty much new everything on it and plenty of custom made stainless parts and more to come still Rolling Eyes
the second is as of now a rolling frame Very Happy
the 3rd 'donor' should be here on the 9th but im trying not to make too many plans for that just yet. WHICH IS A COMPLETE LIE ACTUALLY as i did wonder about the ajs nac12 motor going in and having a liquid cooled pooperdream? but certainly wont be much more than a donor bike for a while yet.... phew!

Do you know for a fact that the engines have been replaced or are you just assuming based on mismatched numbers?

Very few bikes had matching engine and frame numbers as original - on the vast majority matching numbers mean that the engine (or crankcase, they come unstamped) has been replaced and a lazy mechanic has failed to note the original engine number so just copied the frame number instead. Then, when someone noticed, they updated the registration...

Thanks for the info I was unaware but still in the case of both my bikes the numbers on the v5 differ to those on the actual engine. Not sure if it matters also but v5 engine id starts 'cb125te' whereas the engine in the bike reads 'jc06' also none of the numbers thereafter match. The only things that match the logbooks of course is the frame id's ... THANK GOD but lm sure the cb125 'te' was an earlier 6v twin shock cb125? A different engine altogether? Doesn't matter a great deal i guess. I had an rd 50 MX once and they matched frame and engine so i assumed they must all be the same from factory.

Since I'm now a non biker having had my Cagiva nicked, I'll happily exchange some nice crisp notes with the ol Queens head on it for one of your spare working CB's... Wink

sorry to hear your cagiva got nicked Hokum.
wouldnt a honda cg be better? if you want a cb125 brokendream thats ready to go you might be looking for a while for a decent one, i recently saw this sell

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/cb125-superdream-tdc-/181001214676?pt=UK_Motorcycles&hash=item2a24835ad4

and i personally wouldnt have bought that one with ideas of riding the wheels off it.

for that money i would have been looking at cg's ONLY if i needed the bike for transport. my cg was great it ran on fumes, cost nothing for parts and was reliable for 2 years (20,000 miles) until i got my car license.

but if you get a cb125 Wink project or not i want to see it! Laughing
good luck with your next bike Thumbs Up

Laughing NOT necessarily....... 'The Nice One' is almost finished & hoping to have it MOT'd next week.... then to be sold! Wink
Not likely to be very exiting after a Cagiva though!

there you go Hokum! a good one with a years ticket!

i had a nightmare today with my superdream engine, clumsy me left the rocker cover off after placing the motor in the frame... new nuts and washers on the coil+reg/rec bracket which is just ABOVE the motor. have you guessed? i dropped a frikking washer down there!!!!
it fell just under the front tensioner blade. nearly hooked it out but had to take top end off again meaning i had to tear open the new gasket set (planned for the 'spare' engine rebuild) and nick the top end gaskets DOH!!!
will get pics soon as i get the camera sorted.
another bit of fun to be had is sorting out the rocker housings, both have no threads im thinking of getting a couple of m6 helicoils in there but may end up taking the rockers off the 'spare' engine.

well the spares bike arrived yesterday and WHOA! is it nasty Shocked
but for what i paid ive got a decent set of clocks, a decent calliper (currently stripped) and i had the wiring loom (uncut !!) and sidestand off it Very Happy
the engine is very clean also so i have that to one side but the rest of it... im selling as spares along with many other bits i cant fit in the shed now Laughing

the one im building is looking better with a couple more bits on it but most of it will be coming off again because of my latest idea.
i ordered over 50 quids worth of stainless bolts and i am planning to replace every nut and bolt with stainless

the 2-1 motad was loosely fitted mainly to keep noise down while i ATTEMPTED to get it running well and tick over, still working on that!

but of course i plan to get some 2-2 exhausts for it.

tank has been a real nightmare to sort out but finally got it in primer.
