Not been to a big bike show before.
I sorta feel like I'd like to go to this, but I'm not really actually after anything - kit, bike, anything... would be a 3 hour ride/drive each way (plus parking if I drive; of course if I rode and then bought soemthing bulky it'd be a PITA to get it home (I could buy a leather jacket at the right price Wink )) and I'd have to fit it in the only day I'm not working - Thursday - when no-one else I know can make it with me. But still feel tempted.

So, worth it?

Every year I participate in half-a-dozen or so shows (I'm at one in Munich next week) so for me it is a bit of a busman's holiday but the shows are not about biking and I am always working.

The NEC is about three hours for me but I will be going, not looking for anything special but to enjoy a day out surrounded by fun-stuff.

That saind, I'll probably buy 'something'. Very Happy

Word to the wise, though, food can be pricey but there is reasonable choice in the atrium.

I don't think its worth it if you don't need any stuff.

I'm going this year cos I want a helmet and a rucksack, and its next door to the Flying Show which I want to go to as well. Haven't bothered the last few years cos I don't see the attraction of wandering around looking at stuff I've no intention of buying Smile

I usually go on a coach trip organised by my local dealer. £10 a head for the bus, so it saves me the trouble of taking the bike and worrying about not having a beer etc while I'm there. I've already got my show ticket. So all I have to sort out is a packed lunch to take with me. This I generally eat while watching the shows/presentations.
Bargain kit is now a thing of the past, & you'll be looking to save a tenner on items you could buy in store or online. By all means go to the show, check out the bikes & kit you may consider buying in the future, at least that way you can get a real perspective on size/fit. (Gerbing kit is 1 example)
I also tend to pick up various catalogues such as the NGK spark plug one. As I use these in the garage/workshop for cross referencing. So I make sure I take a small rucksack to carry the crap I pick up throughout the show.

Eat at the Motorcycle Museum before going into the NEC. better food, reasonably priced, more pleasant environment and free parking.

Oooh yes, I'd forgotten about that place; always had to go on past as the missus has been with me...

I'm going with a friend Smile

I think it'll be worth it, it's only about £16 a ticket, and I think it was £11 for a parking pass. I'm in Leicester, so not so far for me.

Just had a look at the 2013 CBR600RR on Honda's website; It's damned fugly, I'll keep my '07 thanks. Even the '09~ bikes are a bit weird with their faired in engines; reminds me of the old "jelly mould" 600f's.
