S'like big kids Meccano this is. Not as exciting as anything on the front page of show & tell, but stuff it, I like big kids Meccano, and i dont know where this thread should go Mr. Green

I did have a set of throw overs, but there is nothing to stop them rubbing on the shocks, they are close to the rear wheel, and the buckles & zips have broken on them (me overloading them Embarassed ). Shopping too replace them, soft panniers seem too start at £50 Shocked Looked around at a few pannier racks too. Everything just seems stupidly expensive.

Givi motorbike racks £100+ https://www.google.co.uk/shopping/product/4385075470605385155?q=givi%20pannier%20rack&hl=en&safe=off&client=opera&hs=Fpz&channel=suggest&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf.&bvm=bv.42768644,d.d2k&biw=1104&bih=930&sa=X&ei=rzUqUffXN8fT0QW96oDgBg&ved=0CGMQ8wIwAA

Its a bit of metal tubing FFS!

I do understand the whole thing that Givi are good quality, but stone me! I have had them fabricated before for half the price of a Givi rack for a previous bike. Decided to make my own from Wickes & Wilkinsons shopping items this time.

Costs about £12 for a set of two complete (including the brackets I still have to buy). I think you can get it down to about £6-£8 if you shop about and buy the cheapest stuff online, but I was just grabbing things today seeing what I could do with it. Have loads of black spray paint sitting around, so they will look tidier when finished. I need one 25cm long flat bracket to hold it to the Pillion pegs for added stability either side. Can see in the secound picture where I intend it to go. Will put on shorter bolts (or cut them shorter) when I properly fit it. Also need one more at the top to hold it in place.

Thinking about ditching the soft panniers and putting a cheap little set of lockable ammo cans on (£10-£20 from Army Surplus stores). Would be easy enough to drill some holes and flip the frame around so the bolts held the ammo can in place too.

£20 for a set of 2 small ones. https://www.surplusandoutdoors.com/shop/army-surplus-uk/military-hardware/u-s-army-50-cal-5-56mm-ammo-box-226825.html?utm_source=google&utm_medium=base&utm_campaign=S&Outdoors&gclid=CLqf5s-kz7UCFUbMtAodN2kAQQ

Some pictures so far.

Do what I did many moons ago.

Went to a bike breakers and asked if any bikes came in with pannier frames or top boxes.
Luckily for me he had a load of old tat/racks & frames sitting in the corner unloved and not knowing what bikes they had come from.

I had a couple off him cheap and with a bit of cutting and welding (tacking) , I made one out of the two to fit my bike.
