Hi all
Bit of a confusing one with this bike. I had the bike started 2 weeks before on the electric, first time no problem.
Yesterday I tried starting it but it just sounded like buzzing (from the solarnoid (sp) ) maybe not enough power.
Battery went on charge and still did the same as above. Checked with a Multimeter on the terminals of the battery and was showing 12.9v as normal. Also checked + vs where the earth was.
Cleaned up the wires (they were clean but was first point of call) Also cleaned the earth from the battery no difference.
Checked the solarnoid wires and they seemed ok.
This morning I needed the bike, so bumped it and rode to work. 22 miles later I get to work and turned bike off, went to start and it just buzzed like it has been.
I noticed when idleing only on my RH indicator it would flash quick unless I revved it then it went to normal speed.
The battery is being charged because sitting at idle I checked the headlight when I revved the bike and it brightened.
Any ideas on what I should do next??
Thanks ____________________ Rides: Honda XR 125 ('03) Honda CBR 600F ('91), Ducati 916 Biposto ('95)

Sounds like a fubar reg/rec to me.
Honda reg/recs are renowned for overheating and dying.
The way you describe the indicators changing flash rate with revs certainly backs this theory up.
That would be my first point of call. |

Stan, had that issue on my CBR 600 but not so sure it's that, I think it may be something simple, is there a way of checking if it's no good?
Just took the start motor off, cleaned off all inside, re assembled and still the same.
Battery still is OK. When I turn push the electric start nothing happens, not even a attempt.
Not sure what you mean by bridging the gap Paddy?
What shall I try next? ____________________ Rides: Honda XR 125 ('03) Honda CBR 600F ('91), Ducati 916 Biposto ('95) |
