Kinda old news now but swan yamaha rider tommy hill is to take a years sabbatical in 2013, sounds like to me he's upset he's not been able to progress, anyone agree?

I think he's had a sterling year. I didn't hear that he's taking a sabbatical. I think he should stick with it for 2013...he might have been seen for a ride in WSB or GP's for 2014 season for a start...

Still, it's his life...maybe he's superstitious, and doesn't want to ride '13. Confused

It's alright taking a year out but with a couple of notable exceptions the 'comebacks' tend to amount to very little or nothing at all, hope that's not so in his case, great racer.

This is it, he's got potential but it's a bit early to throw the towel in, he's not Stoner is he?!

What he basically said on his website was that he was putting everything on the line each week for hardly any financial reward and that he'd tried various different avenues to progress but they were all dead ends. He won BSB and that didn't open any more doors so whats the point in trying to do it again for no reward.

I can kind of see his point but also think maybe he's just having a bit of a paddy and should be grateful he gets to race bikes every week rather then stacking shelves or whatever. But I guess the novelty soon wears off and he's effectively stuck in a low paying dead end job.
The trouble is I wouldn't have thought he'd get anymore money at the lower end of WSBK as most teams don't even pay a wage to their riders, also with riders like Smrz dropping into BSB there just isn't enough decent rides on the world stage and somebody like Hill is going to be fairly low down the picking order.

Exactly. Best to stick with it... unless you've got another burning desire - like go fishing or something... Laughing

He said the same back in 2010 I believe and ended up racing. Now Shakey has signed to do another year in BSB I can see PBM offering him the CRT bike next year
