Having problems with my bike cutting out when changing down to first and coming to a stop. It is a suzuki dr 125 sm fuel injected bike, tonight it cut out 5 times on the way home. Could it be a sensor or something else?

Try turning up the idle a touch.

Telegraph review:-

"The power unit's age is betrayed by a rather notchy gearchange, while the engine idle wasn't entirely reliable, the motor stopping for no particular reason now and then. This happened on more than one machine so it wasn't an isolated fault, although it fired up easily again after a touch of the starter button."

Yeah I know it is a known problem that they cut out now and again but the regularity of the bike cutting out has increased.

I have checked the ht lead and then a neighbor said it could be the fact I am using high octane petrol and that the knock sensor is finding it hard to measure the octane rating and try switching to standard unleaded.

I will try this before more expensive options, I don't mind it cutting out now and again but 5 times on a 12 mile journey is annoying. I also think the cold weather is playing havoc with my battery and it doesn't keep its charge, I think I will have to recharge it and see if it improves then if not get a new one.

Is this done by the throttle cable on a EFI bike?

My VFR has what they call "starter valves", (one on each throttle body), to set the idle but the Fi on your bike is apparently quite a simple affair so I'm not sure that you have one or not. There should be some screw or knob to adjust the tickover though.

I see a bit like a carb set up (I have seen videos on youtube with a screw for EFI), I had a quick look earlier and couldn't see much but really need to take the plastics off to get a better view. I know it is a DCP-FI which is designed for small engines so I have googled it and hopefully that might give me an answer.

Thanks
