Something like that can help quite a bit, also on other places on the bike (use a different one)

How often, depends on how much crap is on the roads where you ride...... or how many miles you do... if it looks like its caped in shit between the runners, clean it.. if its just the face places that are dirty, just lube it.. Razz

Products... for cleaning?
Paraffin... wait for it to dry before putting lube on.

Products for lubing, generic chain lube if you don't mind spending a tenner on a can of it... engine oil at a push (needs to be applied more often)... or even gear oil.

I generally do it when I get reminded about it by a chain cleaning thread.

You can get special brushes that have brushes on three inner sides so you can give the chsain a good scrub I got one last month for a tenner at a bike dealers. Well worth it but i've also bought a paddock stand (£30) to make cleaning even easier. I use a spray chain cleaner and a spray on oil.

I got tired off going through loads of toothbrushes and when you consider how much even toothbrushes cost your better getting one of these.
