Since I passed my mod 2 the 125 has seemed slower than ever Laughing might be a while before I can get on a big bike but I'm itching to get on one Laughing

Is there anyway I'd be able to have a go on one soonish? Test rides may be out of the question as I'm only 19 and I wouldn't be able to afford the £500+ excess if I dropped it Laughing (or i'd insist that if i pay the excess, then I should be able to keep the bike Wink )

Congrats on the pass. I passed last week and feel the exact same.

Right now i only ride about once a week but i feel like i deserve something bigger now. Only small problem is nothings came up nearby and all the local bike shops seem too charge way too much for used bikes. Local dealer tried to sell me a ninja 600 lol.

I've seen a nice ducati monster 620 at a decent price nearby but i just need to look into restricting it to 33bhp (not having much luck so far)
Any ideas on what your after as your first big bike?

earlier I rode the 125 to where the new bike is, rode the CBR to the mot place, and rode it back, sadly it failed and I had to ride the Hyosung back home.

It felt really weird, like I was on a cruiser, and I could use the mirrors Shocked

Plus with the CBR, I twist the throttle and it goes a bit faster, with the 125 I twist it and it gets a bit louder Sad

Do you have any mates with bigger bikes willing to let you have a go?
I passed my test a month ago and since then whenever ive been out we have always found a quiet industrial estate out the way for me to have a go.
In the last month ive had a go on a r6, cbr 400, gsxr 600 srad and a gsxr 750 srad. The 750 srad was my fave so in two years time when im 33bhp free i shall be getting one Very Happy

Wouldnt recommend riding anybodys pride and joy if youre not confident, as they say; you bend it, you buy it Thumbs Down

Congrats mate!

I find myself venturing further on ride outs due to the fact I can now use motorways but I just don't have the power to do it safely Laughing since Friday I've had moments where I have been unable to slow down quickly due to cars behind and speeding up would be the only way out of the situation yet don't have the power to accelerate Laughing

Got a '93 Transalp 600 pretty much lined up for around £900 but I need to sell my cbr first which will be in the next month hopefully as I'm on the last month of my insurance now. Hopefully it will be a quick sale as I just want more powahhh! Mr. Green

I'd love a late 90's ninja and have seem them for good prices, but the insurers are asking for just slightly more than I can afford which makes them a big no for 6 month to a year Sad

Mines the exact same TomGT Laughing 3/4 throttle on a motorway doing around 65 with a slight head wind, go to full throttle and all it does is make a bit more noise and climb up an extra 1k revs Sad

My cousin has a bandit 600 but I'm too afraid to drop it tbh, its his pride and joy and its got some gold blingy bits as bar ends so wouldn't wanna scuff it Laughing

I thought the CBR had failed the mot before we get there, as we arrived 40 minutes late and they were all about to go home.

Only when they wheeled it out did I realise that the seals had perished so the bike had pissed dot 4 all over the front discs Embarassed

@krarkol

Resting your toe on the rear brake pedal can give you some extra space behind...unless the person behind is a mentalist you'll find most road users back off when they see red lights.

Tom, you didn't ride it back like that did you? :O

Howling Terror, it was down to poor visibility and also lack of motorway experience Laughing was on a slight incline so was doing an indicated 60mph (I believe this is around 55mph as I seem to be going the same speed as lorries when doing this) when suddenly I was gaining on a car in front extremely quickly and believe they must've been doing around 30-40 or something stupidly slow like that, my reaction was to swerve around them but I then realised there was a car overtaking me on the outside also. I believe if I had more power I could have swerved and accelerated but instead I had to go on the brakes pretty hard and hope the person behind me was awake.

Hellz yeah, I was taking it to a place of repair. I've bought a new set of Nissin pots, lines and a master cylinder to plonk on there, and if I do it within 10 days I get a free retest Very Happy

I've got a mate who's just finishing a slight rebuild of a cbr400, he's just fitted some nissin pots on his so he should hopefully be on the road soon Laughing might hassle him for a go Laughing

I would, I thought what the hell have I bought at first, it felt so weird being cramped and leaned over, but once I got onto the IDR and opened it up a bit:

Thought I was Rossi, then I looked down and realised I was only doing 40 kph Sad

It's got quite a bit of poke for 33 bhp Wink

Thats how I felt on a cousins R1 even though I never went above 30 really but god it felt powerful even at low revs and according to everyone else, it's meant to be unleashed at higher revs so god knows what opening it up is like! Shocked

Can't wait to get on a big bike though and actually be able to not have to go flat out in top gear every time I hit an NSL Laughing
