Please note this is a cross-post, I have posted on Kawaskai Forum also.

Hi All!

Just bought (Wednesday) a 2009 Black Kawasaki ER-6F after passing my test Wednesday morning. Everying is perfect with the bike (apart from the fact that the power scares the shit out of me after riding a 125 for a year). However I find it extremely strange to turn around corners, usually ones at about 90degree angle. It seems like when I lean the bike turns itself and the handle bars become really stiff like they are on autopilot? (only way I can explain it). This doesnt occur during a corner lean unless its a sharp lean.

Is this normal or could there be an issue with the bike, bent forks etc?

Its just something you have to get used to.
Different bike characteristics. Weight, tyres and stuff. Wink

Thanks mate, I was thinking that so I consulted with my colleague at work, he rode a ER5 for his DAS and I let him ride my 6F around the work carpark, he said it was alot more difficult to control the turn than on the ER5, almost like the handle bars are forcing you to turn.

it'll take you a good few months min to get use to all it's cariteristics Very Happy .it's bigger heavier and a total different beast to your 125cc you'll just get use to it. might be worth checking you tire pressure maybe.different types of road surface will make your bike feel different to....... Very Happy

Checked your tyre pressures?

Soft front on the ER6 will cause it to turn in itself quite dramatically.

That's what the Er6 is like, tips in really fast. Once you're used to it you'll see it makes it a very manoeuvrable bike.

Much Appreciated guys!

I must admit the tyre pressure possible isn't enough, I am 20st so need the higher pressure in the tyres, and I doubt the shop pumped it up for someone my size.

Cheers for all the helpful responses/

My GPZ was like that when the tyre pressures were low, just felt like it wanted to stand itself up round corners.

Thanks for all the replies guys!

I adjusted my Preload to 7, which is the highest settings as it was on 4 which is the reccomendation for a 12st rider with no pillion/luggage. I am nearly 20st so that may have been part of the issue. Also when I bought this bike from the dealer 5-6 days ago I expected the tyres to have a good amount of pressure in, turns out the front was at 18PSI and the back at 22PSI, with the minimum allowance being 32psi front and 36psi back. So inflated these also, bike is much much better now.
