I don't know if I'm posting to the correct board or not but I'm looking for your recommendations for servicing my GSXR 1100.

I'd rather give my cash to a someone working from home or in a small unit than to a large, franchised dealer. This maybe a strange idea but I think the small guy has more to prove and therefore is more likely to do a decent job, first time.

I'm based in Lichfield, Staffs and want someone who'll maybe treat my old 1991 bike with some care and do a fair job for a fair price.

Your thoughts please.

You could try Bike Tek in Tamworth. But don't take it to Chase Superbikes as it will cost you the earth.

I agree with MarsBar, Bike Tek in Tamworth is very highly recommended.

For a recommedation I'd say C and B Mann, in Kings Norton, Birmingham. Small unit, been there for years. Above all they're bikers, know what they are talking about and have the disturbing tendency to view a customer as something other than a sacrificial pig.

Thanks for all the replies.

Sounds like Bike-Tec are worth a visit as they're the closest to me.

Thanks again for the posts and I've scribbled all the other places down just in case.

Stay well away from FOWLERS!!

The guy that owned my bike before me had spent almost £2000 on parts and labour. About £1500 was just labour!!

It seems that when they fixed one problem they conveniently come across another that needed some more labour, like removing paint from the discs. This included removing the calipers and the discs to do this (which could've been removed easily by riding in a straight line and braking to let the pads remove it).

My bike's going into Sutton Motorcycles for a 4k service today, it's the Sutton Motorcycles in Sutton not Tamworth though. They have always done a very good job, think they came about 8th in the Ride Rider Power survey last time.

I don't know about the Tamworth branch though, I've got a feeling that they kept the mechanics on from Motorcycle Shitty.

All my Blackbird riding mates have their bikes serviced at Sutton, apart from one time they forgot to replace one fairing screw non of them have had any issues.

From what I understand the main difference between the Tamworth and Sutton branches is that the Tamworth don't have a loan bike, The Sutton branch have a CB500 loaner.

Yeah sutton motorcycles seem good to me (from what i've heard) and if they've kept the mechanics on from motorcyle city then wouldn't they be to a fairly high standard now ? (in theory)
