I bought a bandit 600 3 weeks ago from a dealer.
When I left I had the paper work for 2 bandits and I had to take some of it back to the dealer.
So my V5 drops through the door on Monday and its for the other bandit not mine.
I checked the tax disc that the dealer bought the day I picked the bike up(he sent the V5 at the same time) and that is for the other bandit as well. So I've been riding round for 3 weeks with no tax
The problem is that the V5 for my bike is lost and it can't be taxed without one.
The dealer has spoken to DVLA and has been advised that as far as they are concerned the duty for my bike has been paid but if I got pulled by plod they could well do me for failure to display a tax disc.
So I've elected not to risk it and won't be riding my bike with the wrong tax disc which means I'm bike less until my new v5 which has been applied for, turns up.
What would you do?
And does anyone have an opinion on whether I'd void my insurance by riding with an incorrect tax disk?
I have to say that although the dealer has cocked up, so has the post office (they had my insurance doc with the correct number plate on it and still taxed the wrong bike). I don't really blame the dealer, I'm not happy but shouting and screaming at him won't resolve it and he already feels bad and is doing his best to resolve it.
Cheers,
Dave |
