Hi,

For extra £500 you get another 2 years of warranty with unlimited mileage. Unlimited claims. Roadside Assistance for UK & Europe.
It means 4 years of peace of mind.

I hope to do 25K a year. Even more if possible. I do 10K/year on a VV without too much riding.

Does anybody know if this "Extended guarantee" is that good?
What is considered as consumables? Are coils, rectifiers and sensors consumables as well?
Seems too good to be true.

Do note that it's probably a 3rd party insurance policy to cover warranty work, rather than a manufacturer's warranty - this can cause further problems.

If thats the case, anything but a manufactures warranty is not worth having.

Ive had endless woes with these after market warranties.

Generally not worth the paper they're written on, I bought something similar when I bought a Ford a few years back - the 'extended' bit was some Mickey Mouse outfit that refused pretty much everything based on some infinitesimally-small smallprint.
The £500 would be better off put into a bond for 2 years (to gain some interest) and used as a repair fund when the 2 years are up.

(Unless Honda are backing the warranty up, then it'd be worthwhile)

My Audi TT threw its cam belt destroying the engine 3 DAYS after i brought it.

Warranty company weaseled and snaked out of it.

Had to threaten the garage with legeal action before they paid the 5k for a rebuild.

Also my stepdad had one of the oil filled suspension units go on his Citroen, not the bushes but the actual shock its self.

" wear and tear " i believe they said was the reason for not paying out. Confused

I went for it for the KTM partly because I found the KTM European cover to be excellent and this was extended for two years too.

It's definitely always important to read through the contract.

I considered buying insurance for my laptop last year from that bubble thing on the TV. Considering my laptop is a pretty essential thing for me. Anyway, I read the contract and the contract basically had a clause saying it wouldn't pay out for all of the situations I wanted cover for. Needless to say I saved my money.

Kawasaki are doing this as well got the 2 year warrenty and can pay 200 quid for another 2 years i believe this is kawasaki warrenty not 3rd party..

Thats how it was told to me and i dont have to take it untill my first 2 years are up. maybe they believe in their product and are making from you having to have it serviced by them ? every year.

I was looking at the NC700X and the sales guy said it was a Honda extended warranty when I asked him, though I would have to have the services done at Honda during the extended period too.

Unlimited claims

One of those warranties that you can claim against? Question

Here's the thing, any manufacturing defect must already be covered for 6 years, regardless of any warranty given (or not). On a motor vehicle though, just about anything can - and will, IME - be dismissed as "wear and tear".

Look at stuartt's disintegrating Victory, where they're even trying to argue the toss over that. I had a last minute capitulation on a Sheriff Court action against SEAT UK back in the day.

If you're up for that, pay for your bit of paper, but that's all it is unless you're prepared to fight your corner. "Peace of mind" might buy you a lot more aggravation than simply paying for a repair.

Manufacturers do extended warranty that generally cover all major mechanical and electrical components,

Better find out what is on offer before bad mouthing it.
