I just put some Tucano Urbano muffs on my NC and went riding around town today. Shocked! How long does it take to get used to these?

My hands are not big and because of the arrangement of controls on the NC (they put the horn above the indicator control), it was already quite a reach to, say, cancel the indicators while slipping the clutch. I'm not sure if it is even possible now. I have to pull my thumb in and then out through the "thumb thing" on the muff.

Also, I switched to my medium-weight gloves (no way was my Zoidberg mittens going to fit) and that seemed about right. I still felt the cold a bit at speed, so I don't think the summer gloves would cut it. But it felt quite tight on the left side. I felt like I was pushing the the neoprene to get up and around the clutch.

Does this all sound familiar and I should just MTFU and get used to them, or does it sound like I didn't install them correctly? It was quite hard to follow the Ikea-like installation guide (pictures only).

have you got the plastic inserts on the insides? This should hold the neoprene away from the controls.

its takes a while to get used to, so does putting your hand back in at speed when adjusting something Laughing

I usually just press through the neoprene, even if my thumb isn't in the thumb bit, the neoprene gives way and i can still press buttons Very Happy

So to cancel indicators, i just move my thumb in that general directions regardless, and i usually hit the button Very Happy

Yes, I have the plastic inserts. I think on the NC, the indicator post is a bit far to just push through. I can easily reach the horn, which I accidentally did once trying to cancel the indicator today. Embarassed

Since I'm not having an issue on the right side, possible I have it angled down a bit much on the left side. I'll try unplugging the bar-end thingy, tilting the front up a bit, and re-stick it on the bar end.

I have Tucanos on my NC700S too - for the first few days I couldn't stand them and almost reached the point of binning them or cutting holes for the thumbs.
I missed indicating several times because trying to reach the switch through the muffs was so bloody difficult.
After those initial problems I finally warmed to them and can now operate everything correctly - I'm also 100% certain that the 'thumb' area has also broken-in somewhat, allowing me to operate the indicators properly.
They've been on the bike for several weeks now and it feels pretty natural having them on there.

That said, I still sometimes sound the horn when indicating or cancelling the indicators. But it's a small price to pay for warm hands (combined with winter gloves)
