Since its been damp i've gone round more bends slightly sideways than i'd like to and whilst this is great fun when deliberate, its also terrifying when unexpected.

I have no idea of the quality of the tires i have and which came with the secondhand bike. There is a Kingstone behind and Viva Aero Power 126 in front. Cant find much about either brand on the interweb which doesn't bode well.

Not sure if they're shite tyres or if im expecting too much! im more than happy to buy decent tyres as i've been caught up with the licencing changes and will have it for three years now...

oh its a suzuki intruder 125.

i also need a new sprocket and chain set, completely my fault that the one i have is knackered due to my poor maintenance. they seem to vary from £30 to £50, any recommendations on what to get?
thanks, james

Still time to do a Mod 1 & 2 if you look for cancellations. I would rather walk than be stuck on that for the next 3/4 years!

That's bad luck if it means you can't ride.

They are both very cheap tyres and you could certainly get a lot better. What are the measurements for each tyre? Expect it to be something like 90/90-17 or 3.00-17. With those we'll be able to find out what name brand tyres are available.

Alternatively just go to your local bike shop and see what they can offer you from the likes of Bridgestone, Dunlop, Michelin, Pirelli, Continental, Avon or Metzler.

There don't seem to be many choices if you want a matched pair for that bike. Continental Milestone and Pirelli City Demon. Out of those I'd just get whatever is cheapest.

bloody hell, spent a day looking and cant find anything Mad

only two sets of matched and all they are both reported to be made for mileage and not so good in the wet, and all the singles are the same!
problem is i still dont know how they will perform in comparison to the current ones, might take a trip to the local dealers...

My stock answer is to go to https://www.bandcexpress.co.uk but their cheapest set for your bike is £60 which seems a bit steep.

If you're not keeping the bike too long then get the cheapest set you can find. If you want it to last get a D.I.D set.

There are O-ring and X-ring chains available for your bike but quite frankly they are overkill for a 125.

Michelin Pilot Sporty's, fantastic tyres.

God knows what you've got on there now, are you sure they aren't plastic?

They don't make any sizes at all for 15" rears unfortunately. Great tyres though, agreed.

Try looking here for tyres: Front, Rear.

Not a clue about the Continental Milestone, but the Pirelli City Demon tends to get poor reviews.

Edit: 90/90-18 is similar in size to 3.00x18, which might give you a few more options. You could get a matched pair of Heidenau K65 in 3.00x18 and 130/90-15 (although I've no idea what they're like). I'd do a little bit more research before going down this route, however.

saw the i think it was ME 22 in the 3.00 which are supposed to be quite good in the wet, not so bothered about good mileage for the winter.

im struggling with rears, they all seem to be summer tyres :/ bit of luck i'll get into the local on saturday and they are a helpful bunch.

Regarding the sprocket, bought a J.T for about £45 and they are said from what i have seen to not be that bad, should be ok as long as i look after it better than i did the one i have.

Acemastr, Nylon is a plastic right, they say Nylon on them!
