Just out of interest, has the seat been recovered? |
The seat is a GS750 seat. Previous owner found it more comfortable than the 550 seat and swapped them over from his. His GS750 is nut and bolt, restoration perfect but he does ride it so he made that concession lol. I'm gonna have to assume it was recovered as part of the rebuild, short answer is I don't know, I'll ask. That and the exhaust are about the only bits that aren't original. The fact that the 550 seat was used on his immaculate 750 would suggest it was also in great condition though.
Thank you very much for the comments on the bike. Whilst I haven't done anything to the bike yet, I will endeavor to keep it in this condition and maybe improve it as much as I can. Little paint touchups here and there, polish on the cases and wheels and cleaning the frame alone will make it pretty spanking.
Constant nagging feeling to cafe racer it, but will resist.
Garth, Asking £775 ono for the divvy. 1993, just gone over 23,000 miles (still on original exhausts). Just had new set of Avons roughly 150 miles ago. T&T not sure how long left of top of head. Runs a bit rough from cold (carbs need sorting I think) but starts everytime and is very smooth when warm. Under my ward it has been serviced in Jan with decent gear, had a new speedo cable, set of tyres, starter motor and a few hours of labour with a well known mechanic on the Island when I couldn't spare the time. There is a dent in the tank and marks on the (faded red here and there ) paint, and it needs a set of wellnuts to properly mount the front fairing (couple of cable ties here and there at the moment. but it's a divvy and does what I ask of it. Takes me to work, brings me home, quietly and competently in ALL weathers...
Have probably made it sound worse than it is, if you want a pic I will send one. ____________________ Bikes: too many, too much for one man to maintain anyway. |

That's lovely!
My first big bike was a GS550E - a year earlier than that one. ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'
