I noticed earlier a datatag hologram sticker on my bandit 6.

Was just wondering how I'd know it actually had datatag on it or if it's just a sticker off ebay as a deterrent?

The side fairings near the seat have the VIN written in dot matrix style and I was wondering if this is what the datatag is as I'm unsure what it actually is Laughing

Email to Datatag.

The previous owner can help. They are transferable for a small fee.

The kit costs about £70 registration is less then half that. And if it's knicked the Datatag 'can' aid recovery.

Cheers!

Got some insurance quotes and there's like £10-20 difference in it so I wouldn't really want to pay for it really

I had a scooter nicked a few year ago and saw the state of that once recovered. So now in my eyes, once it's nicked it's bye bye bike Laughing

How long have you got till your restriction is over, maybe them falling out isn't 2 bad, do you ride far to college, as my bandit doesn't like the cold and needs a good warming up, just realised you get 0 mpg, cleaned and balanced carbs should be good, fingers crossed for ya nothing else.....if you want a laugh have a look at the bobber project on show and tell, plus have you been on the bandit forum yet !!!

No not good, get around 40-45 miles to a fiver, my last bike a 600 diversion went shit mileage from time to time, quick blast on the motorway sorted it out, if you've got a mate to sort out the carbs happy days, I was quoted 150 for clean and balance, lucky when I bought my bandit I had full service history, receipts to show new bearings all round, valve clearances, new battery, new spark plugs that are iridium duel tip things, renthal chain and sprockets, anyhow it's been looked after, if you leave your bike outside it may be worth investing in some acf-50 will keep the rust at bay, apart from what you have happened, it will be a good bike

I got around 35, then when the restrictors went in it cocked it up more. I think it's due to the fact that I'm using it at lower revs so the fuel in the float bowls aint being used up so it's just flooding Laughing

Mines got a few scrapes and chips in the paint but it does appear to have just been sat in someones garage for a while Laughing

Chain and sprockets would have been ok but they have a few tight spots where the links have seized slightly so I'll be getting new chain and sprockets fitted on payday! Thinking of D.I.D, would I be better getting O ring or X ring?

In my opinion X ring is prob the best, but prob a bit more expensive, buy a good chain lubricant, I've read on hear about wurth doing a anti fling chain lub seems good.

I'm willing to pay more if it means slightly less maintenance and I get more mileage out of it. On the 125 I just used the cheapest I could as I didn't really care but now I know there is more power going through I want something that won't just snap on me Laughing

I'll look into that lubricant aswell, although I'm contemplating getting a scottoiler fitted Smile

Cost me £15.50 to change the details over from the previous owner.

You just have to email them a request form with the frame and engine numbers etc and they will email you a pdf of the change of ownership form and then you send that with a cheque or postal order.

One of my bikes was data-tagged when i bought it from the previous owner, and I informed Datatag of the change of ownership for a relatively small transferral fee, which in my opinion does provide reasonably visible deterrence. The datatag is readily visible on quite a few components of the bike - side panels, mirrors, cowlings, wheel rims, tank.
I figured at the time, it was a fairly nice-looking if old bike, mostly used during the summer, more likely to be nicked for its value than simply to be joy-ridden, torched and flung in the river, so thought it worthwhile to get registered with Datatag under my name. Now I don't have a shed I can keep it in, and it's been ridden more through several hard winters and now looks like a bit of a shitter, and I suspect the type of thieves who might look at it don't even know of the existence of Datatag, and wouldn't care if they did.

Yes it costs £15 odd to register it BUT it has saved me £30 on insurance (H&R) this year alone so if it saves even a tenner every year its got to be worth it, also my certificate says there some chips embedded in the bike in 4 different places so more chance of it getting found even in bits.

I'd say the same as above that DataTag is worth it.
Got it already on a bike new to me and transferred the details. Worth it for insurance and the peace of mind.

On the other hand the lad's 2nd hand bike has a SmartWater sticker and when I looked into that totally not worth it. They require an annual subscription for the details. Would only take two or three years worth to be the same as buying DataTag. So IMHO SmartWater is really a rip-off for Joe Public.

Thumbs Up
