Short answer. No.
The CD200 has a longer stroke as well as bigger bore.
The bottom end castings are 'common' but then they are machined differently to accept the bigger barels on the CD200, so they aren't 100% interchangeable.
Be easier to slot a CD125 or CM125 engine into the CD frame, it is literally a bolt for bolt replacement.
BUT then you would have a 'modified' CD200, and you would have to re-register it as a 125, which DVLA would probably be a bit squiffy about doing, merely on a detail change on the log book.
Change would make the bike both more valuable and learner-legal, but they would be suspiciouse that it was merely a paper-work ruse to ride a 200 on L-Plates, so at the very least I would expect them to demand independent evidence of capacity change, ie an engineers report stating that it has been done and done legitimately, or a full, and expensive VOSA inspection to confirm changes.
THEN.... when you come to insure the bike, you would be having to declare it as a CD200, but modified to be a 125... and similar problems and hassles from in-c0's believing it a ruse to ride a 200 on L's!
Which is all a load of red-tape wrangling and hassle, given that the CD200 barely makes Learner-Legal power limit, but happens to be 30% over the capacity limit!
Ultimately, it would be cheaper, and easier to simply buy a genuine CD125.....
Or better still; get her ANY old 125 to get her on the road, do some tests and get her a licence to ride the Benley 200 'legit'; without L's! ____________________ My Webby'Tef's-tQ, loads of stuff about my bikes, my Land-Rovers, and the stuff I do with them!

Thanxs for the reply, I've took ricks advice and gonna source a cd125 engine and get the v5 changed, it don't bother me about vosa checking on it as I will be making it 100% legal anyway. I've contacted the insurance company about it and it is only costing £25 admin charge for the change. |
