Had my first off this morning, I don't count when I forgot to put the sidestand down Embarassed

Came out of my drive, 20 yards down the road and bam. Sliding along the floor. Only doing about 5 mph so not a lot of damage.

What really got me was the two van drivers who just sat there while I picked up the bike, and man-handled it to the side of the road. They could see I was struggling, the 750 is a heavy beast and my knee and shoulder were bloody sore.

I'd never just sit there watching somebody struggle. They couldn't go anywhere untill I'd got out the way Evil or Very Mad

Too warm in their heated vans for bother their fat arses helping out a fellow human being. Idiots. Karma will see to them, just tell yourself that Wink

So was it a patch of ice? I slid the car on a massive patch of ice yesterday, SO glad I wasn't on my bike Shocked

Glad you're ok and not too much damage to the bike Thumbs Up

Many people also presume picking up a bike is not much more effort than a pushbike.

At least they weren't using their horn like people were when I crashed.

It was ok though cos the woman who helped me pick up my bike and also was sound enough to take me to hospital went off her fucking rocker at them. Laughing

Lots of people are twats, hope the damage to the bike and yourself is minimal. However a disproportionate number of twats appear to drive vans, I like to think it is because they would never pass class two or one HGV tests.

I met one such twat on my way in to work just this morning. Thumbs Down

I have stopped and helped push a van off the road.

But most times if I'm on the motorbike I'd ride straight past.

No one came to help me pushing my 7.5t lorry (yes, you did read that right) when it finally seized in the entrance to a car park, blocking the car park.

Despite the internet bringing us together, we do live a more and more insular life.

Think I must have hit a bit of ice, didn't see it, and to be honest it was so quick, I can't remember much. Back end just slid round to the left, and I unded up on the ground on the right.

Few bits of fairing broken, and a few scratches Sad Well, it did need a respray anyway after the frost got into my paint job. Bit hacked off as I'd spent a lot of time getting it from this;

https://gallery.dogfriendlysuffolk.com/albums/BikePics/Kawasaki/normal_Kawasaki-original2.jpg

To this;

https://gallery.dogfriendlysuffolk.com/albums/BikePics/Kawasaki/normal_Ipswich-20121111-00403.jpg

Knee's a bit buggered, but then it wasn't in too good shape to begin with. Shoulder and arm are starting to hurt a tad, not sure whether that was from the fall, or picking/dragging the bike.

Sadly true, but when I nearly dropped it back down it should have given them a clue.

The selection of people watching seemed to think so by the expression on their faces - reality was there was probably just a very slight slope down (though it didn't look/feel like it!)

Stick skulls and bio-hazard labels all over the bike and expect strangers to pick it up for you. Very Happy

For next time. Sidestand down, butt on seat, lift with your legs. Job jobbed. If bikes fallen to the other side, just flick out sidestand when you've lifted it enough.

As to the topic at hand...I will help someone pick up a bike if I see they've dropped it, but wouldn't really expect people to help me. Lets face it, if you're up and walking about, people think you're probably ok, and would assume that you can probably lift your own bike up (since non-motorcyclists have no fucking idea how heavy a bike can be).

Not seen that before, might try it. But not when there's ice on the road surface Sad

thats nothing. I had an off at 30mph, it was mainly down to incompetence as i drove round a bend through a puddle and bam, mounted the curb at about 25-30, thrown down a footpath and bie slid through a fence.
I was fine, my bike on the other hand, write off, twisted te forks, bent andlebars, the throttle wouldn't open fully, smashed in headlight and indiators, bent footrest and gear lever. now i didn't get up for a good 5-10 seconds because i was shocked. as you are on your first off.
3 cars following atleast from mirror checks, none came to help and all drove on.
Rolling Eyes
cagers.

Guess its just down to luck as to whether the people around at the time are cunts or not.

The only time I really got pissed off with someone not helping was when I (stupidly) attempted to do a very tight u turn on a very steep hill and dropped it. There was another biker behind me who just sat there and watched me struggle to pick it up.

Ended up being helped by a pedestrian.

Now admittedly, the biker may have been paralysed with laughter but, he's still the ultimate cunt in my book.

i've stopped the bike 3 times to help push cars in need of help.

even stopped and asked a biker if he'd like to use my bike to run to the petrol station as i couldn't carry pillion. he declined, probs thought i'd nick his bike Mr. Green

it's a shame people are so wrapped up in their own shit to help others. knowing people's attitudes to how dangerous bikes are, you'd think they might assume you'd died even in a low speed off and come rushing to your aid.

Yep! Didn't see it! Just saw what looked like the same bike but from a different angle. Smile

Bit like the time I wrote off the Blade.

Lost the front at about 40-45, lowsided, hit a kerb, bike barrel rolled and smashed itself to bits, and I followed it. Got up a bit dazed, with my boot about 50ft behind me, and my arm ripped to shreds, and the car behind me slowed down, the bloke driving said something about that looking quite bad, and then his missus said 'Come on, we're going shopping' and drove off. Not one car after stopped either, only my workmates who I managed to phone that helped.
