So this is what, my mate and i have been working on at the moment, i have just been lending a hand with it.
First things first then, bought himself a little SJ samurai needing a bit of TLC, previous owner had a bit of an accident with an X5 i think it was.
https://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d112/pitslayer/09082008625.jpg
So thats he got it, started looking around it and something wasnt happy with the way it drove, this bit i didnt get any pics off, but soon it was on the ramp with wheels off following replaced
UJ's on prop shafts
Wheel bearings all around
both diffs drained
new brakes front and rear
diff cases made up(will get a pic of these)

made up adaptor to bring rear shocks further in
new shocks all around, more travel and the others were buggered
new shock mounts on the front as new shocks are to long
im sure there is more

Then it was time of find a new front wing....we then found out how much a new front wing is, so they had a go at beating it out, not a bad job considering it was a crumpled mess
https://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d112/pitslayer/20082008633.jpg
Was then all put back together and back on its wheels to check out the lift and start mounting the roll cage. First a set of rock sliders were made up, these should be sufficient :hehe:
https://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d112/pitslayer/15092008658.jpg
Cage mounting now, started to make the 2 roof ones
https://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d112/pitslayer/15092008656.jpg

then onto the top front one, to tie into the windscreen cage
https://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d112/pitslayer/15092008657.jpg

Here is the middle one being made up, this one is for protecting the top of the winch,
https://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d112/pitslayer/15092008659.jpg

Will snab some more pics tomorow, of the diff plates, the winch mountings, hopefully should have some more of the cage mounted on aswell, then its onto the rear end for the cage.
few more things have been done just cant remember what at the moment lol.
None of this is my work, ive just lent a hand in taken bits off/putting back on, holding stuff etc, its my mate and his old man doing it in his metal fab shop. They have just bought another one now aswell so going to have 2 of them to play about in
More to follow

(probably going to get karma raping for the spelling in these few posts, im just copying and paste it here, to let you guys catch up)

Ha, cool. Always wanted one of these, just for giggles.

Are there any left on the road that haven't been butchered into off road hacks? Laughing

The one on the bottom has not been butchered into an off road hack, but it has been butchered. Apparently has a new mot on it.... yet the one UJ has collapsed and is full of sand, and the other side someone decided that wheel bearings dont need to be tight, so the whole wheel could be pulled forwards and back and go clunk clunk clunk lol.
Great little things though, still have lots to do

My pal got one of these and did something similar

Its supposed to have a cow colour scheme, the horn moo's loudly... He fitted a slightly bigger engine because with all the added weight it could hardly move. Razz

Good fun.

Thumbs Up

This should hopefully still move afterwards, will get some more pictures soon, the rear bumper has started. Which is first having 80x40 box section welded on to the chassis, then 100x50 box section rear bumper. I can assure you that wont be going anywhere if it hits anything

It looked like this
https://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d112/pitslayer/IMG_20121118_152720.jpg

https://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d112/pitslayer/IMG_20121118_152726.jpg

Now it still looks like that, but missing a headlight and lower at the front
https://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d112/pitslayer/IMG_20121202_152543.jpg

Mostly because this shock is missing
https://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d112/pitslayer/IMG_20121202_154028.jpg

And the front springs now look like this
https://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d112/pitslayer/IMG_20121202_154019.jpg Laughing Laughing

The other white one got sold and replaced with what is now known as "the Win Wagon" took them out 2 weeks ago where my little one near enough beat everyone in a punch challenge with just a set of Insa Turbos
Stuck
https://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d112/pitslayer/IMG_20121125_113332.jpg

Fairly stuck and almost rolled over, this is roughly where the headlight was lost
https://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d112/pitslayer/IMG_20121125_115014.jpg

This is how the Win Wagon got its name.

If you look in the background you can see the big jeep, there was a hill that a Discovery had a million attempts at trying to get up and eventually got up, there was a Jimny which managed to get up and then shit a CV joint, the big jeep just couldn't get up, the little Win Wagon, second attempt drove up the hill....

Next hill the discovery struggled on big time, Win Wagon 3rd attempt drove straight up, and passed the stuck Disco.
