i would say get the rgv250 if you liked ragging the hell out of that little cbr250 then you would LOVE that as you get alot more results for your efforts
But what do you ultimatly want to do??? lol what you going to use it for as if your commuting around i would say sv650 as they alot better suited if you actually just need to go some where
have fun goosy, and what ever you get, bring it round ____________________ F'it DO WHAT EVER MAKES YOU HAPPY!!!!! Even if it screws over everyone else :p

As much as I'd like to say NC30 NC30 NC30 I think you should 100% go for the SV650S
Big bike physically, lots of low end grunt, still shifts if it wants to, its a v twin, its tourerish in a way so good for your long commute to Portsmouth etc.
Can carry lots of luggage if needed but still dice with the R1's and gixers at the weekends
And it's in a way, cheaper than the others, but not quite.. let me explain... it's going to be the most expensive at around £2500 ish but its a lot newer and a lot more of a bike than the others. So in a way it's cheapest for what you get out of it.
With commuting etc etc then the RGV won't last 2 minutes, the NC30 a bit small and cramped and the CBR the same.
Good luck choosing though. ____________________ Current Toys: 06 Yamaha WR250F | Nissan 350Z GT | Tech 4 Homes |

Hi
Given your habit of riding to the other end of the country at the drop of a hat I would say (of those choices) go for the SV650. Also think about a Thundercat, one of the more restrained models of CBR600 or maybe an RF600.
Suspect both the CBR400 and the NC30 would be a touch cramped on long journies, while the RGV would be cramped and expensive on fuel / oil.
All the best

SV by far.
They seem great bikes to live with. Sportsbike handling with group 10 insurance, come in either naked or fully faired (fairing lowers are avalible), more practicality than a vfr, and all the fun of a V-twin.
/me may be getting one soon. |

Sv or VFR, both are very tasty, I'd probably have the Sv because its related to the bandit, and any relation to to my bike, is going to be good . ____________________ Chase my Witch up, Catch my Snitch up.

Sv good points;
faster than 400s (depends on your riding experiance, as to what you define as fast, of course). But a 650 v2 should be more than sufficent for road use, unless you enjoy re-taking riding/driving tests.
Parts! little old 400s, especially Honda can be expensive and hard to came by. Trust me ive got a cbr400. 400s are old, sv are not. although not always, but genrally new machines are better than old, for various reasons.
Comfort. Hon 400s small not particularly comfortable, sv would be more so.
Sound!!! stick a race can on a v2 and you are laughing . Trust me.
Commuting will be much nicer on the sv. the cbr400 is ok for medium/short distances, which is mainly what i use mine for, and fun of course.
Personally if i had to buy a bike i needed for long(ish) distances, and i needed to rely on id get the sv.
Im NOT sure what svs are like round corners or braking, but i speak to this guy he speaks highly of it. i get the impression is has very good all round abilities. Btw hes ratched up 70k, thats got to count for something...
400s are ?prob? sportier; handling, brakes, riding position, engine is sporty, but its not as fast. But you could still have a big fat heap of fun on a sv .
Test them both ! Choose a well looked after example with history. then enjoy |

For doing general distance etc, I'd definitely say the SV, on position and performance characteristics.
However knowing you've done distance on the CBR250 and seemed to enjoy it generally, I would have thought it would be worth a look at the 400s, as you might decide you prefer the 'fun' aspects .
Definitely try and blag some test rides... if you want a go on me rs for comparison to a 250/2st, gimme a shout . |

Get the SV - it will be able to go scratching, wheelie, do distances, look pretty good and not cost a bomb in looking after. Plus it's a twin
