So, with some of the comments appearing in here, how many people write to their MP?

I sent another letter to mine today re Leveson, responding to his reply to my last email.

I have written to my MP about five or six times. I despise his party and the way he votes on certain things according to https://www.theyworkforyou.com/. To be fair to him when I have needed him to pull his finger out (one of my episodes with the DVLA and getting me some figures from the BoE) he did respond pretty quickly and to my satisfaction.

I have on a few occassions. Nick Clegg is my MP back in Sheffield, and he used to be a really good local MP, since taking over as leader of the Lib Dems, and then as Deputy PM he's not had as much time to dedicate to his constituency, but he's still better than the one we had when we were up in Leeds.

Unfortunately now he doesn't seem to read letters himself, his secretary screens them and sends you a generic reply saying blah blah billy bollocks.

I've done it and to his credit, I got a proper, legible, timely, on-topic reply.

Couldn't believe it.

But, he's still an overpaid underachiever with too much time on his hands. And goofy, and a tossbag.

I wrote to an MP once, he pretty much sent me a letter back telling me I was wrong, and gave me some party line balls which he thought would satisfy me.

I wrote back and told him he was wrong and countered each of his points.

He wrote back less pleasantly again re-interating party propaganda and told me I was completely wrong.

That was ages ago over ID cards.

I have since grown older and more cynical and realise writing to your MP does nothing. 650 hangings from lamp posts however...

I'd be very confised if an MP could not write a legible reply . . Laughing

MPs are essentially just fancy bitches for Brussels now. I email my MEPs, and have on occasion ratted Westminster out to their masters in Brussels. I couldn't even tell you who my MP is, just that it'll be a commie of some description.

No, I don't see the point. I'd only be interested in writing about policy issues and the answer he'll give is pretty obvious. It might be interesting as a protest letter, but nothing more. If you have a small local problem though, then they might be able to help, but I don't.

My local excrement voted against a referendum, and he's Conservative.

I wrote to mine once, he raised my query with the Minister in question, cc'ing me in the letter, and once he received a reply, he forwarded it to me, together with some of his own research on the matter.

And I'm not even allowed to vote in the general elections.

Ones time would be more profitably spent daubing the word "cunt" on a toilet wall in shit.
