I'm really not sure what to make of that TBH Confused The photographer says:
Quote:
'I just started running, running, hoping that the driver could see my flash.'

Surely he wouldn't have been using a long lens, and the pictures look like he's about 15 feet from the guy. Why not just help him up?!

This bit stuck out too:
Quote:

'I didn't know what had happened. It could have been a terrorist attack

Luck of the draw. The % of people willing to risk their life for a stranger probably isn't that big.

Matters because there's pictures, right? Otherwise it's just a shrug and on to the next 2-minute-outrage.

They'd have helped him if he'd been a dog.

Wonder what the variation in bystander effect is with dogs.

Take a look at the NYP version of the article:

https://www.nypost.com/p/news/local/manhattan/nightmare_on_subway_tracks_GgvCtkeJj6cTeyxHns2VNP

Sounds like a completely different story. I don't think anyone (including the camera guy) realised the gravity of the situation until it was too late.

I've been on the tracks a number of times - if I saw a man in the 15-50 age bracket I would initially expect them to be able get up on their own. I'd like to think I'd help out once the trouble was obvious though, I have done in the past in more minor situations.

No need to mention the suspect's race to Krad, he knows the probabilities on this one. If the Liberal/Left were to enter into bets on these they'd become very poor, very quickly Wink

ran toward the train, repeatedly firing off his flash to warn the operator.

And blind him, so he could not see the guy is on the tracks......

Still I guess he had to make sure the train hit the guy so he could log a story and get paid.... Sick

What else is to be expected about who the perp is. Just 1 more bush cat behaving like he is in the jungle and swelling the ranks of the american prisoner population and joing his 'bruthas'.

Some facts:

Quote:
The Bureau of Justice Statistics now estimates that one in three black men can expect to spend time in prison during his lifetime.

https://www.jstor.org/discover/10.1525/sp.2011.58.2.257?uid=3739368&uid=2&uid=4&sid=21101460268991

Quote:
89% of black men will have criminal records.

The key findings of this report, as seen in Tables 1-7, are the following:
• Almost one in three (32.2%) young black men in the age group 20-29 is under
criminal justice supervision on any given day -- in prison or jail, on probation or
parole.
• The cost of criminal justice control for these 827,440 young African American
males is about $6 billion a year.

These data all examine criminal justice control rates on any given day. If we were able to examine
the flow of people through the criminal justice system over the course of a year or ten-year period,
the rates would obviously be much higher. Other researchers have attempted to calculate these
rates. A 1987 study by Robert Tillman found that 2/3 of black males in California had been arrested
between the ages of 18 and 29

In recent years, African American women have experienced the greatest increase in
criminal justice supervision of all demographic groups, with their rate of criminal
justice supervision rising by 78% from 1989-94.

Quote:
While
some studies have documented specific cases of racially unwarranted outcomes, much research has
concluded that, with one significant exception, race plays a relatively minor role in sentencing and
incarceration. Michael Tonry's review, for example, concludes that “for nearly a decade there has
been a near consensus among scholars and policy analysts that most of the black punishment
disproportions result not from racial bias or discrimination within the system but from patterns of
black offending and of blacks' criminal records.” 7 Similarly, Alfred Blumstein's research has
concluded that 76 percent of the racial disparity in prison populations is explained by higher rates of
offending among blacks for serious offenses.8

Quote:
Major Findings
• Police and the justice system are not biased against minorities.
Crime Rates
• Blacks are seven times more likely than people of other races to commit murder,
and eight times more likely to commit robbery.
• When blacks commit crimes of violence, they are nearly three times more likely
than non-blacks to use a gun, and more than twice as likely to use a knife.
• Hispanics commit violent crimes at roughly three times the white rate, and
Asians commit violent crimes at about one quarter the white rate.
• The single best indicator of violent crime levels in an area is the percentage of
the population that is black and Hispanic.
Interracial Crime
• Of the nearly 770,000 violent interracial crimes committed every year involving
blacks and whites, blacks commit 85 percent and whites commit 15 percent.
• Blacks commit more violent crime against whites than against blacks. Fortyfive
percent of their victims are white, 43 percent are black, and 10 percent are
Hispanic. When whites commit violent crime, only three percent of their victims are
black.
• Blacks are an estimated 39 times more likely to commit a violent crime against
a white than vice versa, and 136 times more likely to commit robbery.
• Blacks are 2.25 times more likely to commit officially-designated hate crimes
against whites than vice versa.
Incarceration
• Between 1980 and 2003 the US incarceration rate more than tripled, from 139
to 482 per 100,000, and the number of prisoners increased from 320,000 to 1.39
million.
• Blacks are seven times more likely to be in prison than whites. Hispanics are
three times more likely.

WTF??? It is common here for bystanders to assist in a crime, to get involved in robberies etc. There was a case of an old white man being shot in the head execution style by darkies for trying to help 2 women that were shot in a robbery.

And this asshole just stands there and snaps pics?

It is just odds of human nature. Probably different all over the world but some people will help, some won't, some will take pictures.

Probably more common in a multiculti cesspit like NYC where you feel little tie to your fellow people.

I've never been in any situation where someone has required help, but I'd like to think it is in my nature to act and not be a bystander.

It seems that multiculti reduces your chances of getting help

From the New England Journal of Medicine
https://www.health24.com/news/First_aid/1-2574,77453.asp

Quote:
Based on the results, if a bystander is available to help and "a person who falls down in a primarily-white higher-income neighbourhood, their chance of getting CPR is 55%," said Dr Sasson.

In a high-income integrated neighbourhood, the chance was 49%. It was 45% in a high-income black neighbourhood.
"If that person crosses the street and goes into an African-American poor neighbourhood, the percentage goes down to 35%," Dr Sasson said.

IN SA more likely if you are in a black area that you will be robbed as soon as you hit the ground if no whites are around to help you. Jungle law: dog eat dog.

I stopped a woman from falling in front of a bus once, she grabbed onto me for dear life and had a face like Shocked Shocked Shocked

I said "Nearly" and she didn't even say thanks and fucked off

Didn't even get a happy ending Crying or Very sad

You did. You helped her and you saw the kind of man you are. That is enough.

And she saw what she is: an ungrateful person.

Exactly, you never know how you'll be until such a time comes. I'm a soldier so we tend to run in the direction of danger when it happens, I hope I'd do the same if someone was in dire need of help!

I saved my mum once, she was about to walk over the road while a car flew around the corner. I was 12 and it was the first time i properly swore at her. Ha ha, she was so shocked and thankful that she didn't give me a slap for swearing at her.
