Hi all,

I have recently noticed that my nsr is pretty slow. I can only get 90mph out of it downhill. It is not restricted (thanks to nsr125.com) and doesn't have anything wrong with it. It just sits at 7000rpm and wont budge no matter what you do. Oh yeah, it isn't the import type with the restricted cdi unit.

Any ideas?

Cheers Thumbs Up

At 7000rpm in 6th gear my NSR is doing about 70mph, at 9000rpm, about 90mph, etc.
So is your bike doing 90mph at 7000rpm?(unlikely, methinks Very Happy) In that case the gearing is way off and the back sprocket needs to be increased by 4 or 5 teeth.
Do you rev it up to 9000 or 10000rpm before changing gear? The NSR will rarely rev through the flat spot at 6/7000rpm in high gear, so it has to be revved up past it in the lower gears.
Is the power valve working correctly? With the bike in neutral, watch the power valve servo (on the right side of the bike behind the fairing) as you rev it up past 7000 . It should turn and pull the cables to operate the power valve. If not working, the bike won't rev out.

These are the simple things. It gets more complicated...

stupid question this, but you arent trying to make it pull in top are you? ie changing from 5 to 6 at 7k and trying to make it pull to the redline? Bevause it probably wont.
Scream the balls clean off it (itts good for the engine cleans all the crap out as well) and knock it into 6th once ur about 11-12k then see if it will redline top.

The NSR won't accelerate to the top end of it's speed unless you razz the tits off it in fifth. No need to redline it, but try to accelerate in 6th, and the bike won't have any of it.
