Yeah so i have been looking for some cheap quotes for a bigger bike xj6 fz6 are the only things i can insure atm

Yamaha XJ6 1ncb
residential: £3,176.88
garage: £2,283.23

Yamaha FZ6 1ncb
residential car park:3,906.98
garage:£2,804.77.

Now for the scary stuff if i do the same above but with 0 ncb.
Yamaha XJ6
residential car park: £6,565.33
garage: £3,520.45

Yamaha FZ6
residential car park: £8,086.40
garage: £4,805.29

So would it be worth it to lie? what are the chances of me getting caught in an event of a claim.
Also does anyone pay their neighbor for example £50 per month to use their garage, I'm just wondering as i could save a few ££ by doing so (thats if i find anyone trustworthy Thumbs Down Thumbs Down)

I tend to tell the insurance companies that I have no security whatsoever, and then use a 16mm chain, locks, immobilizer, whatever. The day it gets stolen is the day I forget the chain or something and the insurer will give me a hard time about paying out.

You're on 33bhp... get a different bike and restrict it. Same amount of power.

I paid £380 insurance last year with some quotes around the £300 mark. With my fault accident back in June... my insurance quotes are still coming back at £380.

Those are insane prices.

I lie only because I don't plan on claiming if it gets nicked, not worth it.

Is that due to you just not wanting to have to declare your claim for the next 5 odd years.. or is it just that the bike you ride are usually cheap?

Bandit 600 is cheap to insure.
Bandit 1200 is also cheap to insure (but probably not worth restricting)
CB400SF is cheap to insure.
ER5 is cheap to insure, especially older ones.
GS500s are cheap to insure, even the GS500F (the faired one).
CB500 is also quite cheap.

Both really. The amount the bike is worth is less than the amount I'd end up paying over the next five years in increased premiums.

Personally wouldn't buy a bike over 2k.

More like Helmand.

In any case, if I was stuck on 33bhp, I'd get a 400 as they handle restriction better.

battered nc30s are dirt cheap.

you talking vintage? or a honda bandit etc? because the cb's, bandits, are far more expensive to insure than the xj6.

Those quotes are mental! how old are you? did you declare you were planning on a ride through iraq?

at 30 with 1 years ncb i get quoted £230 fully comp for the hornet.

£600 without ncb.

Tried a 500cc? Usually considered more "sensible" by insurers and cheaper.

Was the same price to insure a 500cc when I passed as it was a 125cc.

If they were charging me that much for insurance, I'd fucking walk or go by push bike.

Your insurance quotes are all more than I've ever paid for a motorbike.

I presume those are for comp. What are they like for TPF&T or TPO?

If you declare they are garaged, they just put a stipulation in the policy along the lines of if it's stolen within 5 miles of your house and it wasn't garaged, the excess is doubled.

£180 Fully Comp for a 07 plate ER-5... @ 23 with 1 year NCB... Bike has no declared security, and is declared to be on the Driveway (Which I don't have... but the insurers told me to select that option as it is kept off the road)

Get a different bike.

Those quotes look crazy, but I wonder how much of this is due to your age or time riding...

If u adjust your age to something like 45, with 10 yrs riding experience and 5 years no claims... does it make the Garage vs Car Park gap any different?

In theory it shouldnt! but the massive premiums quoted does make me wonder. lucky i have a garage but i'd be pissed at having to pay so much extra to park outside.

very nice.

Although there is merit in thinking about a naked bike as they are a hell of a lot less expensive to fix when you drop it.

On my quote i put my age down as 18 as i will be 18 on the 22nd. But it still unfair though the quotes i get, even my mate who lives in a mitcham who is 19 and has the same level of exp gets the same quotes.
