Hi guys,

Does anyone have access to a microfiche reader with either a paper or pdf output option?

I'm in the process of restoring a CBX 550 F2 and as no parts list is available on line I acquired a microfiche version a few months ago.
However, as I don't have a microfiche reader in the garage I need to get either a hard copy printed off or an electronic version I can print a hard copy from.

I have tried local libraries with no joy and contacted commercial microfiche/scanning companies who can do what I want but they all have a ludicrous minimum charge. I have also tried using flatbed scanners etc with no luck.

Any help would be much appreciated and I would be delighted to pay a suitable quantity of beer tokens in return.

Thanks in anticipation.

Hi

I did have some fiche scanned years ago. Not cheap.

My feeling is that it could be done with a very high resolution scanner (at least 2400dpi optical), but would also need to be set up for transparencies.

Although I have a fiche reader it is a basic one with no output to paper.

All the best

Keith

Thanks Keith.

I guess my fall back plan will be to buy a fiche reader as they come up quite cheaply on Ebay - I'd just need to find one for sale within a reasonable distance of Cornwall though!

David

How about contacting Dave Silver Spares, tell them that you want to spend lots and lots of money with them while restoring your CBX550F2 and can they supply you with a full parts listing so that you can start to give them your order

Thanks. I did try Dave Silver a few weeks ago as they have some parts lists available - sadly not for the CBX 550!

I can get you a Japanese Parts Book if any use?
There's one here for 1,000 yen - about £8.50.

https://page9.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/k157548053

I use this type myself for reference purposes.

I also bought a second hand fiche reader a few years ago as getting the fiche converted to hard copy would have cost a fortune. Ended up taking it to the tip as it just took up too much space.

Hi Vincent,

Thanks for the offer - it's certainly of interest. Do I assume that the parts book has drawings of all the parts but that the text is in Japanese?

Many thanks,

David

That's right, exploded diagrams with Japanese text but English numbers so you can find out a part number but not what the part is called Smile

Thanks again Vincent and I'd like to take you up on your offer at that price if that's still OK?
Let me know by PM how you'd like to be paid - PayPal I guess would be best?

Thanks once again!

David

oh..tell a lie.....it's got 15 hours left.
it'll be a bit more than £8.50 as there's post in Japan and post to the UK, although I can get it posted with my stuff as it won't make much difference.

It'd be:-
£8.50 to buy + post in Japan + $5 US agents fee in Japan for posting it on + $2 bank transfer fee.

Post in japan can be anything between $5 and $12 US.

If you still want it, let me know ASAP.

If I'm not too late that's still a yes please!

It is too late but it didn't sell so will probably be relisted. There are others but, if it's 1000 yen or less, the agents fee is only $5 US, 1001 to 10,000 yen is $10US.

I'll have another look for one................

Thanks Vincent, I really appreciate your help on this.

That manual hasn't been re-listed as of yet. The next least expensive one would work out about £6 GBP more. Let me know if it's any use, V.

Thanks Vincent but that's pushing the total cost a little high for me at the moment.

Would rather wait and see if the cheaper one is re-listed if that's OK.
